Onam Festival Of Harvest

Onam is celebrated to welcome King Mahabali, during the month of chingam the first month in the kerala calendar year.

 This is celebrated by all Malyalees for ten days starting from the star attham to the star Thiruvonam 

 Every day different coloured flowers are decorated in the front of the house. On the Thiruvonam day people both men women and children gather together in their house or associations 

. They make big pookalam to welcome King m Mahabali'

. He has promised to visit Kerala every year to relish the feast.

 On the day of onam a big feast are prepared with all sorts of curry,koottu, sambar ,rasam

 payasam and chips papadam and so on

 All will sit around together and in the plantain leaves the food is served .

This enjoyment you get once in a year only.

After food games like poopandattam ,ambuvillatam and kaikuttu kali by women and children. Then lastly swing.

. People wearing custume like puli kali,kumattu kali (maskdance) are performed with bands and songs.

Thus Kerala onam festival goes on and on every year.
