In this world, from time to time many great saints are born to bring peace and prosperity to our society. Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa was born in West Bengal in a small village named Kamarpukur to an orthodox Bharmin couple on 18th Febraury1836. He was named Ghadadar.

In his childhood, he used to listen to epic stories of Ramayana and He also learned Vedanta and analysed Christianity Islam, and other religions said all religions seek one goal and one God. He used to tell many stories with morals. One day as he was going through a field, he saw an amazing phenomenon there were black clouds and swans flying together. Suddenly a light entered him and he fainted. That was his first experience.

His brother Ramkumar moved to Calcutta and Ghadhadar accompanied him. Ramkumar started his life as a priest in a temple. RaniRajamaniDevi built a temple at Dakshineshwar and wanted to do Kumbabeshekam She approached Ramkumar, but he refused at first and in the end, he agreed to perform. After Kumbabeshekam he was not able to leave the Goddess Kali. He continued to do puja till his death.

After his brother’s death, Ramakrishna continued to do puja. His worship was different from others. He used to laugh, cry, hug, and feed Goddess as a mother does to her child. He did penance at Panchavadi.

He had many disciples of them Vivekananda, SaradamaniDevi, his own wife, and Bairavi Brahmini were famous. His Guru was Totapuri. They met together and had conference songs and devotional speeches there Bairavi Brahmani gave him the name Paramahamsa. On 18 August 1886 Sri Ramakrishna attained Samadhi.

His disciple Swamy Vivekananda established The Ramakrishna Mission, Which spread all over the world.

Their aim is to serve needy poor people and to spread Hinduism. America came to know our culture and tradition because of Vivekananda’s Speech at a conference in Chicago, where he addressed the Americans (brothers and Sisters of America) Every one applauded for more than five minutes.

So we should not forget our rich culture and saints. India is a land rich in culture and tradition. We are proud of our nation.
