Lockdown Day 13

Lockdown Day 13

Dear diary,

Today is the thirteenth day of the countrywide lockdown to prevent the spread of the Corona virus in India. The day started on a sanguine note. After a good night's sleep, mind is fresh in the morning. Each morning brings with it a new hope. No matter how dark the night may be, mornings are bound to dispel all the darkness. The gloom caused by the current pandemic will also be over by the collective resolve of the countrymen and the world at large.

Today for a while I had to step out of my house to replenish the now exhausted stock of some essential items. It seemed like going on a war, that too against an invisible enemy. Even though the air outside is crystal clear now, due to almost nil human activities, I wore a mask and was afraid of even breathing in the air made fragrant by the flowering copper pod trees. On coming back home, I immediately took bath as if to escape a curse. Running errands was never so difficult!

I try to keep myself busy all day be exercising, doing household chores, undertaking online Yoga classes, doing some online courses etc. There seems to be plenty of time to immerse ourselves into the hobbies we long cherished.

Further I avoid listening to the news to keep the mind from distracting into sadness. The important advisories being issued by the government are being sent to us by our office on email. Our company's HR department is doing a yeoman's service to the employees by offering many webinars on interesting topics related to well being and yoga. They are also doing a Learning Premier League for all the employees during the period of the lockdown. The employees have to undertake course hosted on our company's server and top fifteen employees doing maximum courses every week will be rewarded. This is keeping most of the employees busy while making them more learned and also protecting them from the distressing boredom of the lockdown.

Hope once we are able to come out of this lockdown after defeating our invisible enemy, we will be more compassionate, more empathetic, more appreciative of the natural wonders spread around us and above all will be a bit more human.
