John's Homework

John was tired of doing his homework every day. He used to say to himself:" Better I had to go to no school, then I would only play and play the whole day. Hmm.. But these are only dreams. " Today, John had a science competition in his school. But do you know what happened before 5 days,

5 days ago.....

Teacher: Students, we're organizing a science competition in our school and the winner will get a medal as well as a trophy. 

Everyone was now very happy.

Teacher: But listen to what you have to do in the contest:

Today, I'll give you a project you have to complete within 5 days and on the contest day, we'll ask for it. And there will also be a science quiz to test your understanding of science. 

Everyone: Ok teacher. 

Teacher: Very good!! So your topic for the project is Solar System, prepare a working model of our solar system and No Cheating!!!

Everyone agreed and went home and started preparing their models. 

John(to himself): I want to win the medal and trophy but preparing a model is a very boring task. What should I do? Yayy!! I got an idea, I'll ask mom to complete it!!!

John arrives at his home.

John: I'm back mamma but do you know I've got a project to do but I'm feeling weak and my stomach is paining a lot.

Mom(worried): How your stomach is paining?

John: I don't know but no problem I'll not pay attention to it and complete my project.

Mom: I'm proud of you my son but you're unwell tell me I'll make your project.

John: But mom!!

Mom: No further arguments!

John: Ok mamma, I've to prepare a working model of the solar system.

Mom: Okay I'll do it you go to your room and take a rest.

John(to himself): My mom is very innocent Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Now I'll win also without any hard work. Wow!!!

On project day...

John's model was completely ready and it was amazing. The teacher asked everyone for their models. The shortlisted students went for round 2 and John was one of them. As you know that John didn't love to do homework but he was very intelligent. The quiz started and everyone began answering but for the final round of the quiz two students were selected: John and Emma. Teacher asked:

If I give you 1 kg cotton and 1 kg iron which one is heavier?

Both thought and together gave the answer:

Both will be the same.

Teacher: Very good!! You both are correct. So now how to guess who won??

The teacher thinks something.

Teacher: Okay !! I have a way last month I gave you all an activity to write about planets but I haven't checked it yet! John and Emma both of you bring your notebooks. Your activity will decide who's the winner!!

John was happy because he had already done the activity very nicely, but he forgot something. Can you guess?

The teacher sees both the activities and solar system models of Emma and John.

Teacher: Okay students!! We've got our winner: Emma.

John: But mam how?? I also completed my work!!!

Teacher: John sees your notebook, the handwriting, and see your model in both the activity and model your handwriting is differing and see Emma's handwriting it's matching. It means that someone else had done your homework. So Emma is the winner because she has really worked hard.

The whole class laughs at John.

John was very sad, he understood his mistake and went home and told everything to his mom.

John: Mom!! I was not having any stomach pain or weakness, I said it because I thought that making a project is lazy work. But today I understood... And told everything that happened that day to his mom.

Mom: No problem John. You didn't win but you told the truth and that's your victory. You'll get more opportunities but from now don't lie or run from homework because it's there for your benefit!!!

John promised his mom that he'll never lie and run from his homework. And from that day, he studied even more nicely and completed his homework from time to time without any arguments.
