The simple tip

   Karan was in the queue waiting for his turn to get his adhar card updated. The queue was quite long with people of different age groups,young and old alike. Obviously adhar card is the most important validation of our presence in our country. With it's importance rising manyfold and it becoming mandatory for many official purposes everyone was waiting for their turn patiently. The clerk who was at the counter seemed to be irritated with everyone who approached him as per their turn. He spoke in rough and loud voice with everyone and it must have been a routine aspect of his behaviour which seemed okay to everyone after all it was a Government office or agency and people who work there and people who come there to get their work done are categorised as being typical in their behaviour. Ofcourse the word 'typical' can be explained as per ones perception ,we are free to have opinions no one stop us right?. . Karan kept observing the proceedings,the clerk's behaviour, the people's reactions and so on.      Just then for some reason he got a fantastic idea credit a scene from the famous Bollywood movie 'Munnabhai MBBS '. I know the name brought a smile on your faces too. The scene that Karan recalled was the one where the sweeper at the hospital gets angry when people keep walking on the floor as he is cleaning it making the floor dirty and he has to clean it again and again and Munnabhai the hero played by actor Sunjay dutt hugs the sweeper who gets so emotional as no one has ever done such sweet gesture to him.

Karan smiled and walked up to the door where the clerk was seated. He did not break the queue to get his work done quickly by bribing instead, he stood watching how the clerk was behaving with whoever came near the window counter. He noticed a pitcher of water kept near the door on a table alongside a glass too was placed. He quietly picked up the glass and filled the water from the pitcher and placed it near the clerk's hand. The clerk extended his neck and gave a strict glance at Karan as if questioning what are you doing mind your business. Karan then very politely spoke'Sir, you are working so hard and since a long time you must be feeling thirsty,drink this cool water and you will feel fresh and rejuvenated ". The clerk took the glass of water with a sheepish grin and picked up his pen to continue his work of updating adhar card of the people waiting in the queue. Just as Karan was about to move and join the queue the clerk said"Do you know I am not like this always. But, people who come and meet me don't even ask me if I am feeling thirsty or tired their only concern is to get their work done quickly. You seem to be someone from a special planet that is why you understood my plight and the sharpness in my voice. Most people only notice the negative aspect. They don't bother what I am going through'. Having said these words he turned towards his desk and started attending to the people waiting in the queue. This time he was polite and courteous with each one who came near the counter. His tone was softer and pleasant. Then it was Karan's turn and the clerk had a smile on his face and he finished the work quickly. As Karan got his work done he left to his home and got busy with his activities for the day. He recalled the experience he had during the day and smiled gently. He felt a certain amount of joy and happiness.                   

   As Karan finished his dinner and was watching television during the night he got a call and it was the clerk on the other side whom he had met in the morning. The person introduced himself and informed Karan that he had got karan's telephone number from the form he had submitted in the morning. His voice was soft and he explained the reason for him calling Karan at that time . He went on to say that his simple act of giving him a glass of water has worked wonders. As Karan was surprised what wonder had happened,the Clerk said that he had used the same technique at his home that has worked wonders. He continued saying that when he returned home from his Office he found his mother and wife arguing bitterly at a high pitch. It seemed nobody wants to let go the other. Then the Clerk filled two glasses of fruit juice that was stored in the refrigerator and offered them to his mother and his wife asking them to drink it as their throats might have dried up since they are arguing so loud. As soon as they drank the tasty and cool fruit juice they cooked down and started sharing some jokes together. This was unbelievable and imagine a simple gesture of giving fruit juice them that brought about so much positivity and I am eager to know what transformation will happen if I serve them food once in a while. I have accepted you as my guru or master for you brought so much positivity with simple tips which everyone can follow. And I have vouch that I will try to maintain my composure at work place too. I realised that small acts of kindness and affection can bring a sea change in our life which can be spread all around making this world a beautiful place for ourselves and all others around us too.             

  Karan was astonished and happy that a simple tip that he gave had brought so much happiness in somebody's life. So, folks let us all try to do atleast one small act of kindness towards someone unexpectedly and see the joy that reflects on their face.
