Mind Transforming Evening

Mind Transforming Evening

On a Saturday evening, I was located in the foothills of Ladakh alone. I had suffered an enormous loss in the business, which resulted in its closure. I had put in my blood and sweat to build that business and to see it reduced to ashes in front of my own eyes was an altogether different and painful experience. The ignominy I suffered at the hands of my friend still lingered in my head, as if trying to inject more doses of pain. My vulnerable mind had become a breeding ground for worries that ruthlessly pounced upon it, intending to destroy it. This was not the life I had imagined even in the wildest of my dreams. Living every moment seemed like a nightmare. One corner of my mind went beyond the limits and urged me to kill myself to get salvation from these ruthless worries.

I was sitting on a boulder with my eyes darted to a plain blue sky bereft of clouds and stars. It was laughing at my helplessness. I felt as if the chirping birds were blurting out something to mock me. The silent breeze swept past me, humiliating my very own existence. Some boulders located in the proximity conspired to move and fall upon me. When your mind is in chaos, everything seems chaotic, even if they are innocuous and sweet and the worrisome thoughts continue to torment you until you freak out. An hour passed with my mind reliving the sad episode over and over again exhausting me to the core. I failed to strike a right chord with the beautiful nature around.

I could hear the sound of bullets whizzing past. I swiftly picked up my binoculars and peered at a distance. Can you believe it? The braveheart soldiers were fighting on the battlefield with their lives on the line. They are manifesting their valour to protect our motherland from enemies. I couldn't even conceive myself on the field taking on the enemies. These courageous souls are all together on a different level. Suddenly, a soldier moved forward and killed many enemies by squeezing out a hail of bullets. Oh, boy! You got to have guts to do that. Suddenly, something inexplicable materialized. The brave warrior who was single-handedly destroying the enemy's fell thud on the ground courtesy of an enemy bullet. He is motionless! He is dead! No matter what you do, you cannot bring him back. We can do rituals, apply subconscious techniques, cry, complain, but his soul will never come back. He sacrificed his own life for protecting our country and to keep the enemies at bay. Who will do that? One soldier plopped his dead body over his shoulder and walked off. Tears encompassed my eyes, as if trying to pay homage to his brave heart.

Words escaped from my mouth; I gasped for breaths just unable to comprehend what I have just seen. A brave heart died in the middle of the battlefield by tearing the enemies into pieces. If he wanted, he could have lived a posh life like others. In this world where we do anything possible to fill our pockets with money, here is a man who sacrificed his own life fighting for our country. Can anyone in this world do better than that? We make money, live a posh life, become successful, earn fame, name. If it wasn't for these brave heart soldiers, our house would have been torn into pieces and we would have been massacred in masses.

We do anything possible to suppress others to move forward in life. Our jealousy, hatred, fear and all negative energies prevail everywhere, making us do things that sure would not make us proud later. Our house, our money, our children, we should be happy irrespective of what happens in this world! We should make lots of money and live a peaceful life, irrespective of the chaos that happens outside. If someone buys a car, we are jealous. If someone buys a home, we are super jealous. If someone comes up in life through his sheer talent, we are insanely jealous. For a moment, we have to let our minds think about the brave soldiers. Even if we adopt one percent of their life, we would be better off. We can accomplish anything in this world, but nothing can equal what soldiers do on the battlefield.

For a second, I felt foolish of myself. What did I suffer? Nothing! Is losing your business equal to sacrificing your life. No way!

What is the use of this worry? Why do we let our vulnerable minds become slaves to this so-called tormentor worry? Is it going to reverse the business loss I suffered? Hell no! Is it going to give me a solution to all my problems? Absolutely not! Is it going to spread peace and happiness? Thousand times no! Then why do most of us let bloody worry entangle our minds to bear perilous consequences? It only dismantles our physical and mental health, which becomes apparent in our thoughts, actions and physical body. We must forever be indebted to the sacrifices made by soldiers across the country. Our happiness is alms given by them. They have conquered anxiety, stress and all negative energies and they always brew positive energy. They don't care even if they die, but they can do anything possible to protect our country and us from the enemies. If everyone develops a soldier mindset, our courage and positivity weave together to make us the unstoppable force that can prosper anywhere.

All mounting worries seemed to fade away in a minute. For the first time since the business loss, I felt relaxed with my revived mind brewing peace. I am alive; I have the energy; I have the age to do anything in life. Nothing is lost. I can start from the beginning. Obstacles are inevitably going to be part of our life and inviting worries is not a solution to cease them. An air of patriotism prevailed in Ladakh.

The following lingered in my mind until I reached home.

We shall develop, we shall develop

We shall develop soldier's mindset

No negative energy

Only positive energy

We shall develop soldier's mindset
