Giri in his World
Giri in his World
Giri gathered all his strength to somehow clamber over a mountain to reach its summit. Excitement coursed through his being as he looked down. The scenic beauty of mother nature captured his senses, curving his lips into a smile. He closed his eyes, inhaling the air, which supplied enough oxygen to keep him still.
"I am at the top of the mountain," his words reverberated around, rendering him goosebumps.
He looked surprised, listening to his own voice which bounced back at him. As his voice rose to a crescendo, he made a fist and punched the air in delight. Cool breeze facilitated the smooth ruffling of his hairs that seemed to dance to the tunes of it. With no one around, he seemed safe in the hands of solitude. He looked up at the Sun God, who had spread his tentacles to perform his daily duty diligently. His brilliance at the backdrop of a blue sky washed the earth in its own inimitable style. It was apparent that he had accorded a leave to a plethora of thoughts that kept on engaging with him on a daily basis. He quaffed the elixir of ecstasy. It felt like the night had abdicated its throne to ensure the morning takes over to rule the roost. The light, which is an embodiment of courage and life, beamed in its full glory, enlightening his skin. Since he couldn't conceal his excitement, he cajoled his mind to pen a song to satiate himself.
When I got slashed by a thorn,
My face creased with concern
I didn't know what to discern
But still I looked stubborn
A fire of agony within has been doused
The door of trepidation has been closed
A spark of courage inside is aroused
A bullet of hope is locked and loaded
Chill chill chill! Consume a happy pill
Will will will! Do not kill your will
Nil nil nil! Make negativity nil
Hill hill hill! Climb your success hill
Do not cling to sadness
Do not befriend loneliness
Do not worry about your weakness
Comparison is just an illness
Inner strength reinforces your stillness
Success is all about madness
Strike a chord with peacefulness
Execute your plans with finesse
Chill chill chill! Consume a happy pill
Will will will! Do not kill your will
Nil nil nil! Make negativity nil
Hill hill hill! Climb your success hill
He felt happy to have pulled off a song with finesse.
Giri swaggered back home after a rendezvous with mother nature that seemed to elevate his mood to another level. A sense of satisfaction waved past him. An iota of complacency embraced him. He slumped on his favourite couch, choosing to play with the peaceful thoughts that churned out in galore. He had stored all images of mother nature that he clicked through his eye lens in his memory, which unfolded one by one. After twenty minutes of engagement, his tummy warned him to feed it with immediate effect. He hastened towards the kitchen to enjoy the culinary delights. Just a sight of food tantalizes his tastebuds. He appeased his appetite with sweet and spicy dishes. Giri sent his gratitude to the God for having him afford palatable dishes while many starve for a single meal. Until now silence had reigned supreme, but now, he chose to breach it by turning on television. France took on England in a mouthwatering soccer clash. He saw the players grinding in the scorching sunlight while he had the luxury of an air conditioner. The high stakes match did not disappoint him even one bit as both formidable sides brought out there A game to entertain viewers. He jumped out of his couch in joy as his favourite France got the better of England via penalty shootout win. He gazed at the clock, which chimed as the minute and hour hand mated at number 12. Turning off the television; he staggered towards the room which had the windows opened with curtains pulled aside. To exacerbate his woes, the power went off with no backup facility at his disposal. The fear of darkness raised to the surface to render eerie effect. His heart throbbed as he saw the light being thrashed by darkness spreading fear. It seemed to use the art of coercion to make him cry. Too much darkness can be detrimental to his mental health, since he had an aversion to it.
What if a ghost sneaks through the window to stamp its authority?
What if a snake crawls through the window to strike him?
What if the darkness prolongs its stay, keeping light at bay?
What if his mind betrays him by infusing negative thoughts?
What if an inexorable night continues to haunt him?
The onslaught of startling thoughts refused to subside. Darkness worked in cahoots with the wind to scare the hell out of him. Despite all odds attacked against him, he had an iota of courage to stride towards the window in an effort to close the window. What followed next took him aback. Out of nowhere, a meow sound of a cat sounded like a rasping ghost voice which sent shivers down his spine. He heaved a sigh of relief the moment he saw a black cat sprinting away. It jumped on the compound of the neighbours only to give a stare which further compounded his woes.
Why did it give a stare?
Is it a ghost in the guise of a cat?
Why it is a black cat with its body color resembling darkness?
What is it trying to convey to me?
Before his mind could get clouded with a myriad of thoughts, he closed the window and pulled the curtain. He thanked God for the reprieve. Looked like the story of darkness had not ended. Suddenly, the window curtain illuminated thanks to the headlights of a moving car outside. The silhouette of a moving car emerged on a curtain. For a moment, his heart skipped a beat but sighed the moment car passed away. The darkness relentlessly cooked scary stories to keep his adrenaline pumping. He knew he couldn't sleep no matter what he does thanks to the atmosphere around. An idea popped up in his mind. How about engaging with YouTube videos to dissuade darkness from having its say? He quickly picked up the phone placed on the sofa. He quickly scrolled through to stumble upon a YouTube video. Without moving his gaze around, he fixated on the video that spurred the phone to life. Will the melancholic night pass away by the time he finishes watching YouTube video? Unfortunately, no matter how much he tried to engross in the video, his senses compelled him to be scared about the darkness around. He pushed the cockroach aside that was trying to wallow on his bed. Ironically, the same cockroach flew around and fell on his head, making him scream on top of his lungs. For a second, he thought a ghost caught him. When he beheld the shining cockroach, he breathed alive. It was not the ghosts that scared him, but animals and insects did. He kept the phone aside and covered his body with a blanket, despite the escalating heat. The profusion of sweat bathed him but he refused to find panacea, which was coolness thanks to the darkness. Sailing through the night seemed insurmountable. He didn't know how to neutralize the conspiring effect of darkness. Eventually, he intoned Lord Shiva's mantra that seemed to instill him with the much needed confidence needed to sail through the night. Looked like Lord Shiva's energy coursed through his being, which slipped him into a deep sleep.
The alarm bell went on a ringing spree, as if it had been entrusted to wake Giri up from his bed. Giri begged the alarm to go to sleep, but it did not budge. He lost his temper as he banged on the alarm, which fell silent. It was Lord Shiva who protected him from the confines of darkness last night. Sunlight washed the tiles of his room with its heat. He quickly hurried outside to appear near the idol of Lord Shiva, who had been his saviour the last night. Brimmed with devotion, he prostrated before the Lord to express his sincere gratitude. Only Shiva's fury can eliminate darkness. Nothing can stand under the wrath of God. He had his morning breakfast outside in a restaurant. The blazing heat lashed him left and right, which foiled his plan to go on a solo trip. He thought of staying at home under the cushion of the air conditioner than to be swamped in sweat. Dashing back home, he lay on the cost sofa, turning on the television. Some stranger had barged into a house during night time and slit the throat of an old lady to make away with gold jewellery. The police zeroed in on his whereabouts within a day to punish him for his dastardly act. The perpetrator of the crime had no remorse whatsoever as he smiled for his unabashed act. The cruelty meted out to the old lady was diabolical. In some other place, a fraudster propagated fake news to con the old man into his trap. He was impersonated as an investigating officer to carry out a digital crime to siphon off money from the poor man's bank account. The grim and helpless face of an old man evoked compassion. Crime rates only perpetuated in the city. Giri understood he should not let his guard down since he was in the heart of the city. Fraudsters could employ sophisticated methods to dupe victims. Since he lived alone in the house, he had to be extra vigilant to keep himself away from unscrupulous elements.
Giri sat on a balcony chair glancing at the chirping birds that seemed to have a funny conversation perching on a branch of a tree. Out of nowhere, he heard a loud sound that boomed from down. A bike rider hit the back of a car in a clear case of negligence. He seemed to be over the phone when the moment materialized. Had he been careful, he could have averted the mishap. The car driver, being a fiery monster, raised his eyebrows the moment he saw his car being damaged. He let his temper explode.
The bike rider paid a price for his gross mistake, which he could have prevented with vigilance. The car driver hurled expletives inexorably as if to make him surrender. Unfortunately, the bike rider had to cough up some money since he had no option to tame the car driver.
Giri decided to touch upon the myriad of personalities that we encounter in our lives. There are people who are hell bent on creating a rift between two to get their job done. There are ones who employ sinister deeds to gain an upper hand. Some create mayhem, plunging the world into chaos. They don't understand that their joy will always be short-lived and they will have to bear the brunt of their mistake in the long run. Their atrocious acts only incubate bad karma, which they will never comprehend until they stumble upon the nuggets of spirituality. There are people who play an instrumental role in other's lives to bring a much needed change to refine their lives. There are people who resort to philanthropy to bring smile in the lives of poor and downtrodden. It is very rear to come across such spirits whose motive is to help and work for the betterment of others. They are humanity personified. The world works in binary. When there are good people, there will always be bad people. Nobody can evade the trap of pain. We need to build courage to brave the test of times. The tumultuous phase would evaporate just like the passing clouds. We do not need testimony to prove its veracity. Sometimes we will be stranded in doldrums, generating self doubt and helplessness. But it is very important to sail through that phase with considerable inner strength, which can bring significant changes in our lives for our own good. Let us instill the nuggets of spirituality and fearlessly walk upon the turbulent road to come out with flying colours
