Leave My Hand

Deep was as usual busy reading his favourite book sitting on a corner of the Indraprastha Library, completely sunk in the story, when suddenly... 

"Deep!! My Shona, My Babu... What are you doing here.. It's so late. Come, Come let's go home.."

Deep sighed, "Maa, I will come, don't worry I am now 20, I can go myself"

"No, shona you will come with me. I have made your favourite Rui Maach and Mochor Ghonto."

"You know the perfect way to convince me. You know that I start salivating even by listening the names of the dishes you had made"

Deep laughs. He and his mother returned home. Deep's Dad was waiting. He asked, 

"Shreemoyee, you came where is your shona? "

"I am here Dad"

"Oh! od, how was your day? "

"It was good Dad"

Deep went to his room, thinking about his book. He started down on the table and began writing his own novel. He just could write one line and soon he dozed off. He woke with the sound of Conch. 

Dep went out, he was about to pick up the newspaper when his phone's notifications tab popped up. There was an email from the college. He opened up the mail. 

And the next moment he jumped as high he could shouting with Joy. 

"Dad, Maa quickly come, I have a great news to share"

"What happened shona, why are so overwhelmed"

"Maa, I have been selected to an internship in Hong Kong. Maa I am so excited."

Shreemoyee started crying, "No shona, you will not go any where. I can't stay without you". She hugged Deep tightly. "Do you know how much I love you."

'"Mom I am going there just for 1 month. Don't worry. Do you know how much important it is for me. Think mom, I will be a famous Software Developer in the whole world"

There was a lot of discussion, Mom and Dad were having arguments. Deep was tensed, and was completely worried, what would be their decision. This one question was revolving in his mind that whole day. Finally in the evening they all sat and Shreemoyee disclosed their decision. 

"Deep, you can go to Hong Kong, but..... "

"What!!!, Maa I can't believe, thank you so much. "

"But promise me You will follow all my instructions. Promise me shona."

"Ok Maa"

Few Days passed, Finally Deep was ready to leave for Hong Kong. He went to Airport, his mom and Dad bade him farewell with teary eyes. Soon he landed in Hong Kong. 

After arriving he checked into his to hotel. soon he was on the way to his room in the elevator, Suddenly he saw a figure on the lift's door. When he turned back he saw the most beautiful girl in the world, her eyes were mesmerizing. Deep became nervous. He gulped. The next moment the girl said,

"Are you a Indian, perhaps from Kolkata?"

Deep was stunned, he couldn't believe that the girl was talking to her.

"Yes I am, but from Delhi. Actually I am a Bengali. How did you guess that?

"You smell like Kolkata, like fish, prawns, sea air. You smell bit old... Sorry to say that but actually I am blind I cannot see anything properly. Sorry i didn't mean to hurt you."

"Its OK, I am sorry too."

The lift's bell rang and soon Deep realized that they both were headed to the same floor. Then they parted ways. Soon Deep and the girl whose name was Ahana became good friends. They both started to spend time together and Deep was so realistic while describing the sceneries to Ahana, She felt as if she had eyes and is enjoying these views.

Two days later Deep came across Ahana's Father, he was a man of principles as he was an retired Army Officer. he didn't like Deep at all because he was very lean and thin. Meanwhile Ahana had started to fall for Deep. One Day they were sitting under the Giant Buddha of Lantau,

"Deep, can you describe me the scenery, Please?"

"Yes Ahana, Of course....  You feel like you are floating on the clouds, the cold mist is hitting the hill with its gentleness, Far away, is the shining City of Hong Kong, completely illuminated with its trillions of lights. The Lantau Bridge is also glowing like a pearl in the sea, car and trucks are coming towards us but suddenly they disappear in the lush greenery of the island. And the Statue of Buddha is the icing on the cake, whether you see it or feel it is is the same, and it give you a tremendous amount of positive energy."

"Deep can you say one thing, Do you like my company?

"Like!!! In fact I love... You are the biggest overseas victory of mine."

"Really!!"

When Ahana reached her room he saw her Dad talking to someone on the phone. after the call ended, he said

"Congratulations Ahana, your wedding is fixed"

 Ahana was shattered. She couldn't believe that her father has fixed her marriage with someone even without informing him. Just then someone entered the room and touched the feet of her father, Ahana was shocked, she knew who it was. It was her bitter past, her ex-boyfriend Avik who was also blind like her but has mastered the technique of echo navigation.

The very next day Ahana and Deep were sitting on the small jetty of the Tai O village, Ahana poured her heart out.

"Deep, I don't want to marry Avik, I Love You. But I am helpless, father had already announced my engagement. He is also very happy. I can't betray him. after Mom's death he is the one who has taken care of me."

"Listen Ahana, I love you too, but it would be better on our halves to part ways."

Ahana eyes were filled with tears, she put her head on Deep's shoulder. They both hold hands and watched the enchanting sunset. Deep said, 

"Ahana I have a flight back to Delhi tonight, I am going back. Take care of yourself."

Deep got up and was about to leave when Ahana held his hand, her eyes filled with tears. She didn't even utter a single word. She was looking at him with great affection, 

"Ahana Leave My Hand, Let me go... It is better for both us."

Ahana let his hand go. Deep truned back and walked away hiding his tears.

Ahana and Deep parted ways...
