GRATITUDE

One day, Kaushika was dusting off her bookshelf. While she was rearranging it, her diary named 2017 slipped down from the shelf. She turned its pages to read. Randomly, she read the page dated 12th April 2017. It was an unforgettable day in her life.

Kaushika had gone for a birthday party with her friends. She was wearing a lemon-yellow salwar and a red dupatta. She looked gorgeous and everybody applauded her. She enjoyed much there. It was 9 o’ clock and time to go home. She took her mobile, bag and went to the parking area.

Suddenly, she felt somebody was following her. She got frightened to see him at first. Then, he told that he was following her from the time she left the party. She asked the reason. He told her that he found her beautiful dress got stained. Therefore, he followed. She felt embarrassed on hearing it. He introduced himself as Manish. He pacified and told her to wait for sometime there itself. He went to the nearby textile shop and pharmacy. He purchased a salwar set, napkin and gave it to her. He told her to change her dress and go home.

As soon as she returned home, she took a shower. She thought that she forgot to get his number. She shared about this incident to her mom. Her mom appreciated that guy and told her that she wished to meet him. Kaushika inquired about that guy among her friends. But, unable to track him out.

Kaushika recollected that incident after five years. She thought to track him on social media. She shared about her experience in detail on her FB post. She checked her post on daily basis. Patiently, she waited for days, weeks and months.

A year passed. Unexpectedly, she got a reply from him on her birthday. She was delighted to read the reply and accepted his friend request. They chatted and decided to meet one day. She invited him to her home that weekend and informed about it to her mom. Her mom felt happy.

Kaushika prepared a special lunch for him. They had a good time. Her mom understood their friendship and told him to visit their home anytime. He agreed and went.

Once in a month, they had a get together party. As her parents were broad-minded and knew about him, allowed her to go for the party. Their friendship continued for years. His parents too understood their friendship.

In their families, they decided to arrange wedding for them. They told that they were friends only and would choose their partners. They chose their partners and their wedding was planned on the same day, same wedding hall. Their wedding got over well. Both of their partners understood their pure friendship. They lived happily for years.

One day, while Manish was working in his office, he felt giddy and fell down. They took him to the hospital. After the doctor examined him, told his family that Manish’s kidney got failure. They were shocked to hear it. Kaushika was unable to accept it as he was a fitness freak. Doctor told that he needed urgent kidney transplantation. Their family searched for the donor. But they couldn’t get any donor. They were worried.

Kaushika told her husband that her blood group was matching with Manish’s. She told her husband that it was her time to help her friend and would like to do it. Without a second thought, her husband agreed her decision as he knew about their friendship that was continuing for years. Her parents too agreed her decision of giving one of her kidneys. Kaushika told her decision to Manish’s wife and she was overwhelmed with tears. Operation got over successfully. Both of them were found healthy.
