The celebrated archer Guru Dronacharya taught the royal princes the finer points of archery. One day he wanted to test them. So he brought the princes to the forest. He looked around for a while and finally selected a tree. He placed a wooden bird on a bare branch and asked the princes to hit the bird in the eye.

Yudhisthir, the eldest and the most confident one stepped forward. Guru Dronacharya was standing close to the tree. He asked Yudhisthir if he could see him. Yudhisthir replied "yes guruji". the Guru asked him to put down the bow. The prince was disappointed after hearing this. The same question was asked and all of them gave the same reply. Hence, all of them were asked to retire from the competition. It was now Arjuna's turn. The Guru asked him the same question but Arjuna gave a different reply.

He replied" No guruji, I can only see my target, the eye of the bird". The Guru said" good Arjuna now take your shot". Arjuna managed to hit the bird in the eye. Arjuna was judged as the most accomplished marksman.
