A Closet Story
A Closet Story
The story begins with an argument between Mother and her beautiful daughter, Mayra. They were getting late for an Indian marriage because Mayra did not want to attend the marriage ceremony in traditional attire. However, Mayra's mother was adamant about taking her in ethnic dress. Mayra decided to hide in her closet, hoping her mom would be forced to change her decision.
The closet was huge, with enough space to enclose herself within. She took a magazine with her and sat inside the closet with full determination, thinking it would be an easy task! However, after an hour, she started sweating and feeling uneasy. She set the magazine aside and began murmuring. She took her favorite dress from the hanger and said, "You are so fortunate; you don't have to think or make people understand your choices!" A husky voice replied, "Is that so?" Startled, Mayra started rolling her eyes, trying to locate the source of the voice. The mysterious voice continued, "Hi, Mayra, this is Jeggy, your favorite outfit!" Mayra was stunned, her heart rate raised, and she said, "OMG! A talking cloth, are you serious?" Jeggy giggled and said, "I didn't want to disclose my identity, but you forced me." Mayra took a moment to accept the fact and then asked, "What did I do?" Jeggy said, "You don't realize how fortunate you are to live among your loved ones happily. You are ruining the opportunity to create beautiful memories, just in the name of a silly outfit." Mayra, annoyed, said, "Shut up, Jeggy! What do you know about relations, and why are you supporting classic dresses?" Jeggy replied, "Let me share my story, so that it would make more sense to you."
"There was a land named Fabrica, where both traditional and western dresses lived happily. The land was filled with laughter and joy, and there were two important gangs in Fabrica, the Trendy gang, named after western attire, and the Classy gang, named after traditional attire. Trendy and classy were really good friends; they did not have any competition. In fact, they used to gather and discuss possibilities in the fashion industry. We shared a very pure bond until that day when we were approached by a rich merchant to manufacture clothes of both types. We became very happy because this order could help us develop our land, Fabrica. Both teams gathered with a single aim to surprise mankind with our innovation. Some of the popular outfits, like the Skirt and Garar, were inspired by regional attire. The rich merchant was delighted with our work and signed an excellent lifetime contract. However, as the days passed, the demand for traditional wear reduced, creating a gap between the two communities. The Trendy gang was flourishing, and in that glitter and glam, we started ignoring the Classy gang. The Classy gang felt left out and, after a lot of ignorance, they approached the judgment panel to cancel the rich merchant's contract, so that the differences between the two communities could be resolved. However, the Trendy gang opposed it and filed a counter to stop the production of traditional attire due to the decrease in demand. In this way, Fabrica land lost its happiness, pride, and became a city of clashes. After wiping the tears, Jeggy said, 'This is the reason I left my loved ones and came to stay with you, so that I don't have to watch my loved ones fighting.'"
Mayra felt disheartened and said, "I am sorry for your loss, but can't we bring traditional attire into the limelight again?" In a low voice, Jeggy replied, "No, we have already tried! But no one is interested in wearing ethnic wear, just like you." Mayra felt awful about her act of enclosing herself just to avoid traditional dress, and she thought this would have hurt her mother a lot! Suddenly, she remembered her mother's saying, "Old is gold." These words repeated in her mind, and a wonderful idea came to her. Her face glowed up with an elegant smile, and she said, "Nothing is over! We can still bring back the glory of Fabrica." Jeggy looked confused, and Mayra continued, "It is time to make new innovations in the fashion industry. As traditional attire gave you inspiration, it is the time to become a role model for ethnic wear and increase its style factor. It will create a craze among youngsters, leading to a higher demand for traditional dresses." Jeggy's eyes filled with astonishment as he said, "You are right! It will help me bring equality, love, and joy back to my land." After a moment, he cut his sentence in the middle, his face turned pale, meaning, "I will have to leave you!" Mayra's happiness disappeared, but with a fake smile, she said, "Yes, but that's the right thing to do. You are and will be my favorite dress forever, but this is the time to create more like you." Jeggy, with a disheartened heart, agreed and went back to Fabrica through a Magic portal. However, he promised to send the first copy of his innovation to Mayra.
Mayra came out of the closet, went to her mother, and apologized for her misbehavior. She attended the social gathering as per her mother's wish: in traditional attire. But this time, she felt proud to wear it. After a few days, she received a courier from Jeggy. It was the first copy of the dress, as promised, and it also carried a special message stating, "The idea worked miracles, and it brought peace and happiness back to Fabrica again!"
