Good evening to all who are gathered here, on the auspicious day of our school “25th Annual Day” celebration. We are all gathered here to celebrate the “Silver Jubilee” of our school also. I welcome our Honourable Chief Guest Miss. Anisha, the District Collector, our alumna, our respectable Principal Mam, our teachers, our alumnae and my dear students.

We have heard the welcome address given by our Principal Mam. Now, let us join together and give a big applause for our alumna and the Chief Guest of our function today. I request our Honourable Chief Guest Miss. Anisha to deliver us the speech and share her memories with us.

Thank you, Mam, for giving me such a welcome address. I’m feeling very proud to be an alumna of this school. I’m so grateful to the school authorities for inviting me to this celebration.

I’m very glad to share my school memories with you all.

I came from a poor background. My parents were farmers. I had two younger sisters and a younger brother. I was the eldest of all. My parents would go to the field in the early morning itself. So, I had to prepare food for the whole family and then get ready to school. We had to walk for a mile to go to school.

While I was studying, I came to school with a dirty, tattered and patched uniform. My friends and classmates would criticise me. I felt so ashamed and worried.

One of my teachers supported and helped me. She bought me a new set of uniforms. Her name was Mrs. Sarada, my Science teacher. She was so soft and kind as her name. She loved all of us and we too loved her.

She had been an inspiration for many girls. She had helped many girls in our school financially and supported them to pursue their higher education. She had spoken about the importance of education to those girls’ parents and convinced them to send their girls to college.

Mrs. Sarada teacher was the guardian angel in my life too. She motivated me to pursue my higher studies.

Even though my parents were uneducated, they knew the importance of education for girls. I was good at studies and stood first in the class. So, my parents motivated me to become an IAS officer. My father would be always saying that I should become a District Collector and help many needy people. Besides, he said that I should work for girls’ education also. His words inspired me a lot to work hard on my dream.

I could do my homework after I’d completed my household works only.

Mrs. Sarada teacher helped me to achieve my dream. Always, she would say to us that “You are the creator of your own destiny”. Those words inspired me a lot.

I came first in 12th std exam in the district. My parents and my teachers felt very happy. My parents were praising about my success to all. My teachers helped me to join a reputed college.

While I was studying in the college, I had fear of speaking in English. Sarada teacher helped me to speak in English without any fear.

Day by day, my spoken English was improving, like taking seminar, paper presentation and participating in debates also. My friends got surprised and appreciated me. I felt more confident than before.

While I was doing my final year, I had started preparing for UPSC exams. My father borrowed money from some creditors and enrolled me in a coaching centre. I worked hard to achieve my dream.

My parents, siblings and my teacher encouraged me a lot. During my final semester, I appeared for the exam. On the day of my result, I was so tensed. All of them pacified me. When I saw my result, I felt like flying up in the sky and out of the world. I got the first rank in my first attempt.

My parents felt very proud and gave sweets to all. I had gone to meet my Sarada teacher. She blessed and congratulated me.

I’ll be very grateful to my teacher throughout my life. The person who I am now is, because of her motivation and support only.

My dear children,

“FOCUS ON YOUR DREAM AND WORK HARD TO ACHIEVE IT”.

Definitely, one day, you will achieve your dream.

Thank you for giving me an opportunity to talk about my beloved Sarada teacher and my sweet memories. Thank you.”

The teacher thanked the Chief Guest.
