Ganesha is the youngest son of Goddess Parvati and Lord Shiva... Once when Goddess Parvati went to take a bath, she took some turmeric paste and created a human form out of it. She then breathed life into this human form and thus a boy was born. Parvati accepted the boy as her son and asked him to guard the main gates. Goddess said that you should let no one in the room without my permission. At that time, Lord Shiva came and was going to enter the room but the boy did not let him in. Lord Shiva was angry with him. He cut off the boy's head and the boy died. After Goddess came, she was shocked. She was crying. Lord Shiva came and asked, "Why are you crying? Parvathi?" Parvathi told, "Why did you kill my son?" He answered, "Is he your son?" She answered, 'yes.' Lord Shiva sent his soilder to find a head for his son. They found an elephant and cut off his head and brought it to Shiva. Shiva fixed elephant's head and from that day, the boy was named as "LORD GANESHA."
