PHANTASMAGORIA (Nov. 9 Theme: Horror)

When a naked child begs in the street

When a mother finds hard to make ends meet,

When the aged look out of their windows, lovelorn –

When the blind and the infirm cross roads, ignoring the horn

When the ink suddenly dries up while writing,

When we have no clothes to ward off the cold biting

That’s when we realize the phantasmagoria of horror,

That there are things to come, speaking of terror

Have come knocking in a blood-curdling manner

These are things that defy reason under the hammer.

Movies that are full of horror like Hitchcock’s Psycho

Find resonations in re-makes that are akin to an echo,

When we are horror-struck, our eyes bulge out,

We have goosebumps, and exhale through our snout.

A horrific state does not arrive often –

It’s better to be prepared as we have emotions to soften.
