Thrill Of Discovery (Week 29 Theme: Adventure)
Thrill Of Discovery (Week 29 Theme: Adventure)
To travel far and wide – to discover new lands,
To go against Fortune, following the heart and palm of one’s hands
Made Christopher Columbus discover America, travelling around many islands
Adventurous spirit can never be caged, it’s like Time’s sands.
Gulliver’s Travels imparts the sense of adventure at a young age
It’s important to travel with wonder, before one turns into a sage,
Swift’s book opens a world of fantasy and imagination in every page,
With caustic humour, the writer props up a mirror with every image.
“To strive, to seek, to find and not to yield” – is a motto
Where we learn the onward journey of life – in Tennyson’s canto
If we make this a principle in our lives, we can overcome all sorrow –
The adventurous spirit grows within; it’s not something to borrow.
I have travelled to many distant lands with the thrill of discovery,
Snapshots from memory come barging in moments of total recovery –
To go to new places, meet people are as excitingly many
As taste the local food and temper our palettes in ways uncanny.
This spirit in us, removes the miasma of squalor
That bogs us down; it provides also epiphanies of valor -
Adventure keeps the heart young, spirited – receptacle of honor
To plunge into the unknown, needs a questioning mind and temper.
