The Weeping Roads

All along

For so many decades

Whenever I was born

I had the pleasure of

Taking each one of you

On myself

Either for your daily routine

Or for your emergency

Either with your feet on me

Or the wheels on which

You traveled by

Be it a bicycle

Or a Mercedes

For that matter

To some extent

The airplane too

I have been the most

Social edifice

Never differentiating

Either gender

Or economic strata

I am saddened

For the past few days

I am unable to do the service

To the extent

What I desire to

Tears are rolling

Seeing my plight

As well as of yours

Come back fast

I’m here to serve you

Again and again

As much as possible

Do not pain me for long

As I cant sustain

Without you

And may perish.
