Special Day (Week 33 Theme: Birthday)

A special day is allotted for everyone

Birthdays are for a feeling, as if one is someone

Fun n’ frolic can be had, by the wholesome –

These special days shouldn’t bring sorrow to anyone.

Whenever winter comes, my birthday draws near,

I belong to this planet, so I thank my parents dear

When I was born, my father was told to consult a seer

I was dark as a raven, as I am now and here.

Chocolate cakes and confetti are for celebrating birthdays

We get a year older, leaving behind all yesterdays,

But the fun and happiness of the moment, help us to live in todays

Lo and behold! It’s the birthday person who sashays!

Birthdays make a person feel so special,

Love pervades all and is a feeling perennial -

We celebrate a birthday by placing the person in a throne imperial

Gifts and blessings are received – wishes sung in raucous babble.

Why should birthdays come only once a year?

It’s such a pity! Otherwise, we’d have smiled from ear to ear

Birthdays are special; so you out there, please hear!

These days are for loved ones, living far and near.
