Messed Up

I heard, “We’re gen of broken hearts and broken people.”

Why is it like that? Why do we always get that tag?

Are we really that bad, Or maybe we’re just too busy,

Too busy, to even realize what we are busy for!

It’s the money you think, that will make you happy?

Well, Cheers then! At least you know what makes you happy.

For I’m still having a hard time figuring that.

Do abstracts like, trust, fondness, emotions, make you think?

No, I guess not and that’s perfectly normal, you know.

After all, these won’t fetch you any money in the end.

These things are so obsolete, you know;

You can’t even see or touch them if you wanted.

So, people doubt, “Do such things even exist?”

Why is it, that we always do things to get something in return?

Do you even love someone, expecting something in return?

Why have we inculcated this blind consumerist attitude?

It’s like, I gave you this, so you give me that!

What the heck are you trying to establish, “A Barter System”?

Have you ever noticed, where you’re headed to,

With a doomed concept like that?
