BRICKS OF MIRTH (Week 31 Theme: Home)
BRICKS OF MIRTH (Week 31 Theme: Home)
A home is different from a house
It’s where we share things with our spouse
We have fun around plates of cooked grouse
At night, we have books there to browse.
Our home has just two selves now,
Years have gone past – don’t know how
I’ve fought against the ivy, green enough to plough
Tendrils of them had to be cut, to impede their bough.
The building blocks, instead of bricks,
Are those of love and warmth which intermix
With the mortar, to make a home that clicks,
A perfect picture, ignoring the neighbor’s power politics.
I have planted saplings near my window
I aspire to tend to them, to watch them grow,
Greenery in a home, are sights which endow
Soothing calm, something different from the golden bow.
Birds chirping music from the outside
Walls barring outer cacophony from the inside
Let the inner warmth be my eternal guide
Mirth, camaraderie, are the vitamins that ensure all to smile.
