Without Medication

Without Medication

She sits in her study room with a biro in her hand. The pale brown face paints a worn and weary mind. Yet over the years, a mask she wore concealing her stress-strained face.

Migraine is no stranger to her, it at times knocks her down to soon find her bed driven for two weeks.

Her room is decorated with capsules of green and white, yellow and red. One would think she is running a mini dispensary.

Her weak body still takes her to work off and her willpower is the driving force that keeps her intact. Medication runs through her veins which she's got accustomed to.

At the back of her mind, a flickering flame of faith breaks through her condensed thoughts of doubts. A tiny voice can be heard whispering "You can do it without medication". So clear it rings through her mind but for years she feared the thought of it.

Today she is a free woman from being a slave to those capsules that turned her into a living skeleton. She is smiling like a sunflower every day even if it's chilling outside. The only medication for her is her daily meditation. A prayer each day and a reading of the Holy Scriptures keep her going.

She has boldly said no to factory-made medication. Her life revolves around the herbs passed down from generation to generation.

She is stronger than ever and her mindpower is the magic within her.
