In her old rocking chair she sits gazing into the empty sky. Not a cloud in the sky but the full blazing sun threatening to change her pale brown skin into a BBQ plate.

Wiping the sweat on her forehead she hums a tune when so long ago it was their tune. They both loved to sing their hearts out for music ran in their veins.

Now it's a different tune she sings, it's a tune filled with emotions unspeakable. The mood is somewhat a lament. For her loved ones she may never get to see and her heart screams in absolute silence but her eyes tell the story of once a love she now miss so much.

Jayne and Eljay were inseparable. They clung onto each other when the sea was rough. And in the calm of night they'd sing their songs to encourage the family to hang onto each other in the coming years.

Work and studies had each go their own way. But she never did forget him. For she placed him in the chair of her heart. Her eyes for no other she turned to. But the distance made his heart grow cold. His desire to be in another's arms grew stronger and he soon fell out of love. To another his heart he sold to and that soon got him so attached he had to create an alibi.

All turned out in his favor and she but only too well knew about it went after her love. But it did sting to her core when she learnt of his unfaithfulness. She gathered her courage and turned her back to him. Pain ate her heart and broke it into millions of pieces. Tears like rain she swam in her own sea of grief and it sank her to the bottom of the sea. Agony was the song on her lips it took her life to hell.

The years were but chaotic for she was a life that found no peace and no love. Adversity was her companion. She blamed it all on him. But it soon dawned on her that she had to let go. She had to forgive him and move on.

It was never easy for their love was still alive and they'd talk for hours over the phone. He had his own family but she had only him.

When the day finally arrived she broke down as she said her goodbyes to friends and families she had made over the years. No one knew that she was hurting and breaking deep within. Her broken heart was saying her last goodbye to her first love. It buried her in agony unbearable and she thought she would collapse at the foot of the stairs of the aeroplane. She sank into the seat and wept the entire flight to her new destination.

Thirty five years on and it's still fresh in her mind. All seem like it was just yesterday when she left him for a new life. But she is as single as can be. Maybe she may never get to fall in love again for that might open the wound .

Jayne lives a lonely life but a fruitful one with her children from her second failed so called romance . But if ever she gets a chance to return to her childhood home. She hopes to just meet up with her Eljay and bid him farewell so they both can remain as best friends forever.

She smiles at the thought of it.
