Once there lived a ploughman who ploughed the fields of farmers and earned his living.

He was very poor.He could not earn enough money even after toiling all day long. Thus he worked harder and for longer hours.

One day while he was plowing, he heard a sound on the ground when his plough hit the surface. When he dug further more carefully, he found a wooden casket. On opening it, he found ornaments and jewelry in it. It was worth lakhs of rupees!

He was overjoyed and thanked goddess Lakshmi for this. Suddenly goddess Lakshmi appeared before him and said that now when he found the casket, he was thanking her. But before this, he always grumbled why he was so poor and blamed her for it.

The ploughman understood his folly and asked for forgiveness. Then he thanked the goddess and took her blessings!

The moral of this story is that we should not blame others for our misfortune. By sheer hard work and dedication we can change our fortune!
