ROLEPLAY: Election Campaign
ROLEPLAY: Election Campaign
A foolish lady candidate is campaigning for elections. She wants herself to be the MLA. She goes to small societies to convince the people with her propaganda. But a young girl outsmarts the minister with her knowledge. This is humorous as well as inspirational. The characters are built to portray society but no hate! P represents the candidate and A represents the young girl. LT signifies Loud thinking/murmurs...
P- (knock, knock!!)
A- (door opens)
P- Namaste beta! I am from ABC party
A- Namaste!! You are the candidate for the elections, aren't you? What do you want?
P- Oh that's brilliant so you know me! Can you call your mother?
A- She is not at home, you can talk to me.
P- What's your age dear?
A- I am 14 now!
P- Please tell your family to vote for me and my party. This time I am going to be one of the MLAs. (hands over a pamphlet/advertisement)
A-Aren't you confident? What have you done for your constituency?
P- Didn't you hear my speech? My speech reflects my personality.
A- I have heard, Clothes don't make a man!
P- No no, I am a lady, not a man! (picking up the broomstick and dustpan) Can't you see, I am cleaning different parts of my constituency with your support.
A- Yeah yeah, we know all this Propaganda. Let's see how promising you can be.
P- Do you know which family I belong to?
A- Why? Don't you know your family, ma'am?
P- I mean I belong to a family with a great legacy and now I just want the voters to vote for me.
A- Ma'am, when you think that you have done such good deeds, people will definitely elect you. good deeds should be done with an intention, not for attention! (sarcasm)
P- Yeah I am pretty confident but I want each and every citizen of the constituency to support me towards becoming the MLA.
A- Ma'am, there are big things you have promised in your advertisements, but what's the guarantee, you will keep your word?
P- Child, what comes with the guarantee these days, but trust me. LT-I am really annoyed, how can a young girl have knowledge about all this, and also about my advertisements of becoming the MLA...
A- Oh, you seem to be quite confident, enjoy your delicious victory! Don't try to trick people into voting for you because as youth we are always updated about current affairs.
P- HMPH!!! HUH!!
LT- why did I just talk to her, it was such a waste of time!
