“Sam! Hurry up!”, watching Sam hurried down the stairs, Mr. Barrington rolled his eyes, frowned and murmured “Why he’s so tardy?”.

Sam quickly gobbled his bread with orange juice and stood in front of his Dad and grinned, with both fear and excitement reflecting through his eyes.

They both drive away to the college, after exchanging goodbyes and kisses, Sam head off for his class he was late, as usual, will his teacher let him enter the class? will he be punished? Obviously. Peeking through the window that everyone was peacefully listening to the lecturer – no commotion, he woven a plan to tiptoed from the back door, but as soon as he starts with, he felt a little itching on his head.

“ Ah! I never miss my shots on him, look, a gentleman has entered the class …..so how are you sir ?”. Mr. Lopez bombarded, he glared, bent to gave a closer look and said with a cold smile,  “ So, how was your journey to the college ?”. Sam became stiffed, eyes just fixed on his teacher in terror and he trembled, ”Uh…um…uh….. yes, a gum stuck under my sh...sh..shoe so..so….” he grinned and frightened again of that terrific look in his lecturer’s eyes. Holding his head in shame Sam prepares to leave the classroom but he noticed someone new, something weird, at that moment, the only dark complexioned boy sitting numb in the corner of the class, look so shied and a dull expression on his face as if he’s bereft of happiness since his birth. Carrying such suspicious feelings, Sam Walkover.

Next day, when Sam mistakely arrived university on time, he saw some of his friends and seniors bullying the same dark complexioned boy, Sam infuriated at the site and rushed to save him, however he got a blue spot on his eye, but at the site of Mr. Lopez all the tyrants flew away and the victim thanked Sam. Both of them gradually became good friends and Sam randomly asked Mellow one day,” Why those tyrants were bullying you that day Mellow and why you had not respond to their tyrany?”. Mellow didn’t answered him.

Mr. Lopez was engaged in some work in his cabin when Sam just come in, stood frenetically in front of his teacher and speak softly, the only name on his lips, “ Mellow”. Mr. Lopez understood what his student wanted to know from him, he put his spectacles down on the table and a regret appeared on his face, melancholic he began, “He’s a very nice, loving boy my son, but he’s numb because he’s tired of fighting for justice now, his father died at an early age in rally of justice for the same rights should be given to blacks like those were meant for whites, fighting against some American military troops -at the time of Sir Martin Luther King. And that's the only reason why his family left America and settled here in New Zealand," he admit, " America supposed to be the land of his painful memories so they left it, when I asked him why he became silent to such tyranies on him he answered that he’s used to of such abusives and thus choose silence to reply to the same cause for him the silence is the sweetest answer that he can reply to someone, anyone. I am happy that this boy atleast know how to live his life and hadn't taken any wrong step. Whenever Mellow needs me I will be there for him”. After hearing the painfull past story of Mellow, Sam sobbed for a while and eventually decided to invite Mellow for his birthday party but all the things don’t begin happily. Sam was waiting for Mellow outside that night but the same bullies abused him earlier were hidden amid the trees and attacked Mellow, at this site Sam grab his baseball and rushed at the spot, unfortunately he grabbed one of those tyrants and hit him on his head through 'cause of which the boy died on the spot, after realizing what he has done in maddness, hands in blood, he cried aloud, hearing to this Sam's family, friends and other neighbours came out at once but Mellow quickly take over the blooded bat. Some of Sam’s friends cried that this black sheep has done crime but was made quiet by Sam’s parents, Sam’s dad didn't what exactly happened their but atleast he understood what a crime his son has committed, he called Sam and slapped him but Mellow just stand in front of Sam and confesses that he committed the crime to what Sam’s dad did not believed and said, “ Son, stay aside I know him” but to which Mellow shouted and emphasized that he himself committed the crime. Then Mellows's hands were also bloodied because of holding the same blood filth bat and he showed them to Mr. Barington so that he can atleast be doubtfull about Mellow. But To which both Sam and his dad weren't able to believe cause Mr. Barrington heard it many times from his son that Mellow is very nice, delicate, good boy, a manerfull boy but dad wasn’t aware of the reality, Sam kept quiet in fright. On the next day when Sam met Mellow in prison, fold his hands into hai hands and asked in the only sound that he could make out of sobbing , " Why?". Silver bead like Tear resting on his cheeks, lips too silent but too eager to know the truth and Mellow with a soft smile on his face, replied, “ When people supposed to call me black blooded , my mind - dirty black and blank, my complexion is black, people hate me cause I belong to a black face, .... a black race, so isn’t it good to become pure black. That’s why I did it my friend, I did it, please take care of my family”. He admitted, " you know what Sam.... Black is everybody's favourite colour untill it comes to skin". Both of them are in tears but Sam replied, “ No , you will take care of them by yourself”, and kissed him on his forehead. Mellow heartily accepts his kiss but for a moment Mellow didn't understand it, however when he saw the same tyrants appeared from behind with their hands handcuffed and find himself coming out of the prison, he showered a smile on his face and hugged him(Sam). There they met with Mellow's family who thanked Sam and his Dad for help and they two too thanked Sam. Now Mellow was living a happy life ' cause the whole New Zealand was now amazed at a boys’ courage and painful past.
