Pet Name

In most of the times BATMAN sat on the bridge ,doing nothing but looking vacantly at the inky sky or splatters. He sits down always in a clumsy mood. He doesn't run squeak on the hose down. He throws pebbles in to the running stream. When his aim fails to kill to hit at the particular frog he turns worried . Coincidentally, some one bellows,' Bata'. He retaliates ," I am not Bata , I'm 'BATMAN'.

    The man nods his head and before he worded anything harsh he goes quickly out of his sight The wrong conception that misfortune silhouettes  instantly , the word 'Bata' is uttered by someone.' Other wise his parents' satisfaction and people' s impression who were in appreciation 'Bata' alias BATMAN, was, gentle, polite well-behaved....but introvat.His Original name and pet name was curved . People of the village Gadmula epitheted him 'Bata'; where as registered name is 'BATMAN' 'At the time of building of the Hirakud dam, they were rehabilated to the hamlet and the government in press meet declared so many incentives for losing their invaluable arable land . They were politically assured to pay the double of the value of their land and employment one from each family in government job, nonetheless, it was a fancy.'Bata's migrant parents sent him to St.Xavier's school located in HIRAKUD NAC block in Odisha. A neighbouring boy of Jamadarpali , Krushna Kumar , a diminutive ,in the first class , sobriqueteed him 'Bata, some 'Batu' and other low grade class mates' Bata shoes' in his first day in the institution .One of his class mates named Biraj , chaffed him Batau  several times . He pulled his  cravat energetically and said," Don't nul my name  

 as long as you are here or else I may do anything worst ."

   BATMAN dazed him back.But 'Bata' was wide circulated . He wanted to supercede his counterparts in every curriculum so that everyone from teachers to classmates will be pressurized to call him BATMAN( even the girl mates ). But despite his diligence he couldn't secure centpercent. Bishakha , whom her class mates hollered 'Queen' for her fascinating Beauty , only liked BATMAN although not good looking and bulky but for his soberness , personality and talent. She was the spinster squealed him BATMAN. 

  On the way to returning home in holidays they discuss the future of Hirakud dam which warned to thousands of farmers against ensue danger they would  face close at hand due to soil erosion. Both decided to undertake the engineering course , Consevation and application of the vital (soil) without waste, so as to make possible a high level production,that can be continued indefinitely types of erosion on geographical soil forming & soil eroding process that maintain the soil in a favourable way. Mahanadi the life line of the farmers of Odisha , flows from Amarkantak in Raipur , Chhatisgarh and covers a distance of 851 kms before it out falls in to the Bay of Bengal hand in hand with the tributaries Sconath, the Junk, the Hasdeo, the Mand, the Ib,and the Tel.There is dispute over the distribution of Mahanadi water, began on 2016 when Odisha objected to Chhattisgarh constructing dams , barrages citing that it would significantly reduce the water flow in the down stream.The State contended that the dams and barrages would have an adverse impact on the people and industries in Odisha.According to the present report the water flow has diminished to 3 feet below the dead label.

   Both concluded that it should be fought in Narmada Bachao style.

 After the trivium and quardirivium BATMAN and Bishakha prepared for the entrance of soil conservation engineering. In one chance Bishakha hit her goal but BATMAN missed the chance . He objected that before entering into the examination hall somebody knew him blurted ' Bata' .  

   His mood was upset . He left out the easy questions he could answer. He appeared so many competitive exams but failed continuously. 

   He said to Bishakha , Wouldn't you help me clear up for an ingineerig course ?"

   " What do you mean?"

  " Darling, I mean you will escort me to the to the centre."

   She smiled and said," Z security?" 

  BATMAN said, " It is not time to joke ."

   "Then say, what do you exactly want me to do?"

  " You have to guard me to the test centre carefully and must have a sharp look on the people , suppose my close associates to reach me before entering the hall." 

   Everything went well until he entered the test room. Questions and writing papers were distributed. By the time, he finished a line some body inde the hall whispered 'BATA' , the questions are easy , Isn't it?"

  He turned back and surprised to see the petulant Asim.

  He began to forget the answers and wrote half hazardly, till the answer papers were collected. The bell rang which said the golden moments have been slipped from his hand only to regret for his failure. Bishakha sat on the wooden chair saw his face a deep gloomy and didn't ask about his performance.

   Once she said to him," It is not your pet neme that troubles you most but the mind set.I suppose you are not BATA or BATMAN and don't react for it. Don't pay a heed to it. Practise Dhyana , control and concentrate the monkey mind . If you don't follow it miseries will ride upon you. You will miss me for ever."

  But he was preoccupied. He couldn't start Dhyana . It seemed he is not his. BATA echoed him sensibly . He sat eyes close under a tree in the deep forest where no birds ; even crows and ravens could disrupt him.He sat on the streams where nothing was heard except the rhythm of the flowing water. When he closes his eyes someone inside his mind shouts 'BATA'.He starts running as if BATA was speeding up after him.

  He expressed his incapability to Bishakha and said," I am the person who is inefficient to do anything.BATA will not leave me nor I can leave it. I know I'm not excusable still I hope to remain with you as a good friend of yours and do any work you entrust me."

    Bishakha was overwhelmed by his simplicity. With spalshing eyes she said,"No janeman you will live with me as my life partner.When I am out for my job as a soil conservation engineer you will organise the people to fight for Mahanadi Bachao revolution. It is the need of the time. It was no wonder that their marriage was performed normally in the Sambalesweri temple amid a few guests interchanging garlands . They said Bishakha was the first beautiful maid married to a jobless youngster a rare example of true love.

  Life after marriage was stoical.Scared of someone holler him BATA he seldom went out in evenings for a perpetual fear of disaster . Late at 8.30 p.M.he walks and shops in the near by market , the daily necessaries . He doesn't mind preparing different food items such as samosas, cornichons, cutlets, chutney,fried rice, dosa, and keep them in hot case if she comes from her job late.

    In her absence he feels fatigued as communion he couldn't make and his mental health suffered.Dejected a being he bought books of his liking of the noble prize winners,V.P. Naipal, Jhumpa Lahiri, Dosto visky, N.C. Choudhary , Annie Arnux particularly astrology books of Clement Cherio's 'Astro- numerology the and your star'.    Bishakha home he discussed with her why his life devastated . She heard it with a smile,"What is use of BATMAN or BATA in the present moment ?" She concluded.

   Due to work load , absurd sex appeal made by the higher authorities,  desatisfaction of her in-laws bearing no embreyo , above all poor nutrition , distressed her .  She demanded her husband BATMAN to bring a spouse home as she failed in her pursuit to provide his parents an heir.

  Keeping eye contact with her he said," Impossible;in this sore point, I  can not help you. There are my elder and younger brothers who can get the shaft get going."

    With Bishakha suffered from cardiac arrest, everything   dwindled .In a dreadful night of August she had a mild cardiac arrest,and hospitalised   .In subsequent days her health didn't improve   .The  Unfortunate BATMAN emptied her savings in the bank,G.P.F. money,and in other sources she saved.

   He sold his share of property for her treatment but they were of no use .All his hope melted like water bubbles  . He had nothing to do but to wait  with blubbering eyes to her doom day . It was a stormy   evening when the nature was unfriendly, non cooperative and dreadful . The doctor in charge of the ward with suffocation and weepy eyes informed him of her second and third stroke ultimately breathing last. BATMAN  rolled on the floor , helplessly wailing and calling, "Darling, wait BATMAN is going with you."Time ran anti clockwise. In the wink of an eye ,BATMAN followed Bishakha . The two loveliest couple burnt to ashes with the audience stood speechless round the pyre.
