Friends, today I have come up with yet another inspirational story which speaks about people’s opinion and suggestions. In our daily lives, we come across different people with different opinions, mindset, thought process and suggestions. But here the question arises that “Does every opinion matter?” To find out the answer let us dive into today’s story which will give us an answer to this question.

Our life is surrounded by many people – be it be our parents, grandparents, siblings, friends, relatives, etc. Each relation holds a different place and importance in our lives. Similarly, each person has different opinion and suggestion to offer. Here comes an important thing to note that not every opinion and suggestion needs to be given importance. We have to put our filter “ON” & decide whose suggestion and opinion really matters, otherwise things might turn out to be a mess.

Let us now see a story which demonstrates this thought which we just discussed.

Nayan used to live with his mother and father. Nayan’s mother was a sculptor. Right from his childhood, Nayan used to see his mother creating beautiful sculptures. He too learnt the sculpting skills from his mother. His mother used to display her artwork at various exhibitions as well. But his mother had to leave her sculpting skills because of her eye problem. That was the time when Nayan decided that he would continue his mother’s dream. Nayan learnt all the nitty-gritties of sculpting and also gave time to his studies.

One fine day, Nayan decided to make a sculpture to display in sculpting exhibition. He discussed its blueprint with his mother and then started his work. After few days, the statue was ready. He was very happy with final result because the statue came out exactly the way he wanted it to be. His mother too appreciated his work.

The very next moment, Nayan decided to invite his 4 close friends to show his artwork. As it is said, 10 different people will have 10 different opinions. The same happened with Nayan too. One friend said that the statue is beautiful, but its eyes should be little big. Nayan thought that his friend was right. The statue was not dried completely. So Nayan decided to make some changes. He made its eyes bigger.

Another friend suggested that the statue is beautiful, but its cheeks should be little plumped. It would add more beauty. Nayan again thought that his friend’s opinion should be considered. He made the cheeks look plumped.

Yet another friend suggested that the statue’s hair should be curly rather than straight. Nayan made the changes accordingly., and then finally his fourth friend suggested that the statue’s lips should be little thinner and Nayan did what his friend suggested. The final outcome was a disaster. The statue was nowhere close to what Nayan expected it to be. He ruined his beautiful creation by paying heed to everyone’s opinions and suggestions.

This story draws our attention to understand that “Of course, every person has an opinion. But it is not necessary that each and every opinion will fit into your problem or situation and will try to solve it.” It is you who needs to put the filter. If you keep following everyone’s opinion, situation might turn out to be a mess like it happened with Nayan.

Respect everyone's opinions and suggestions but be wise whose opinion you listen to and implement. Not everyone’s opinion matters.
