Rohit took part in the speech competition. His topic was 'My country'. Each participant must speak for a minimum of ten minutes to be eligible for the prize.

Rohit, though a good orator, was initially nervous. But as he gradually started speaking, he was more at ease.

Rohit began with the words - My country is Bharatavarsha, once known as the Golden Bird.

India was the richest and the most affluent country of the past. India's contribution to the world GDP when the British had just arrived here as mere traders was a whooping 23%.

However when they left our nation after ruling for more than two hundred years. They looted our country to a devastating extent and the proof was that at the time they left, India's contribution to the world GDP was only 2.3%!

Rohit said that the fact that foreign forces like the Britishers have time and again been able to a vast nation like India is that our countrymen are not united. There are many religions, sects, cultures and the foreigners have applied the principle of divide and rule to loosen our power and rule us!

He continued saying that we Indians must be united and stand for each other. Then only we can sustain ourselves in the world. Today India is one of the fastest growing economies of the world and there are problems like hunger, poverty, unemployment, pollution, crime, terrorism, increase in costs of petroleum products and gas, plights of farmers, and many more, that needs to be addressed.

If we go forward keeping the wellness of nation in mind, rather than personal benefits, then it is not far that we would regain our lost glory once again!

After Rohit finished his speech, he was given a standing ovation by the audience.

No doubt that later he also won the first prize in the event!
