Ten years later,

Hey Shubhangi, so what's happening? When you are traveling around, we miss our movie time at your home theatre. Now you are back so which movie have you all decided to watch this Sunday? ...my best friend Swarali was on video call. I told her this time i want to see old classic movie of Amitabh - Jaya. I have very good memories of childhood; it will be a surprise. You all can come and watch it to know it.

I took a pause by keeping her on mute as i had one important call on my other phone. Swarali got bored and she disconnected the call.

So nostalgic I feel when it comes to watching movies. Because it's a long journey.

When we were small and school goers, movie theatre used to come in front of our house. A person used to carry a " " "magical box" then for us, where four of us could watch a movie at the same time from four sides of that box. We had to keep our hands on both sides of face so that we could watch clear picture. He used to charge a small amount for that.

He used to start the recorder and with one hand he used to keep rotating and pull the handle in circle so that the pictures also were changing with the speed of recorder where dialogues and songs were arranged according to the picture . It used to be hardly ten minutes picture but it was such a lot of joy for us . everyone of us who used to gather there were waiting for their turn . We used to wait for him to come the next time .

My uncle also experiment and was successful in that . We used to cover the sides of cot with bedsheet and one side's bedsheet used to be our screen . How and by applying which trick my uncle did it but watching the pictures on that was truly an enjoyment for us .

One more nostalgic memory i have is about watçhing movie in open space in our colony ground , sometimes roads also used to get blocked . Some of us also used to go and watch it from terrace , during " Ganesh utsav " On big screen which was made of white cotton cloth . And that screen used to move with the wind and picture used to shake with it .

And after such nostalgic and enjoyable experience of watching movies even the Inox and big screen movies could not give me that happiness or say excitement of watching movies.

Earlier there were black and white movies then they became colourful . There used to be many movie theatres where we had to stand in a queue one hour - two hours before the movie starts , to get the tickets. It was again a different story and different fun . Sometimes Family or neighbours in a group used to go and watch movies . And movie's story telling session amongst friends , classmates was another story .

Movie review was not required because whoever will go and watch the movie will tell neighbours, family members, friends whether they should go and watçh it or not .

Then television started showing movies , not the recent one but old movies . Number of Theatres came down , not even half of the theatres were operating . Others started winding up as it was no more a profitable business .

Again revolution happen in cinema and more advanced theatres started . People who could afford started having Home Theatres . I too have now started getting bored of watching movies on every Sunday in the home theatre . But it is just that we all families and friends come together , talk , eat together and have joyful time .

I believe Swarali is again there on video call . This time i need to give her proper attention or else she will again be upset . Ok friends bye , you too enjoy your movies . But frankly speaking for me the first three ways of watching movies and pictures of my childhood time were the best for me.
