A True Story about the merciful blessings and healing touch of the world famous Holy God -Lord Jagannath of Sreekhetra, Puri.

I was travelling to Sreekhetra Puri by train to have a darshan of our adorable God Lord Jagannath in the new year 2016.I came in contact with a passenger named Ramesh who was travelling in our compartment. He was the native of Puri town and also a staunch devotee of Lord Jagannath. Mr Mohanty, my colleague had accompanied me with his family in the same compartment. My wife was sitting beside me.

We were engrossed in gossiping about the greatness and supreme power and blessings of Lord Jagannath, the inflow of a very large number of devotees to Sreekhetra from all over the world.

Sreekhetra is a sacred place of spiritualism, great heritage and tradition of art and culture. The people of Puri are very fortunate and feel proud of far -flung sea beach, numerous monasteries, temples, Saradhabali of Badadanda and improved tradition and culture.

By the by, Ramesh began to narrate the tragic story of his life which was not only alarming but also incredible to all of us. The story follows :-

Ramesh said, "I was suffering from gastro enteritis severely. I consulted many renowned doctors and took medicines as per their advice and prescriptions.

Though I remained under treatment for long medicines didn't respond well for recovery of the disease. Due to severe pain in the stomach I couldn't sleep well and eat well. I lost my appetite. The pain aggravated day by day. My belly swelled and looked like that of a pregnant woman. My wife and two daughters became worried and took pain for me. They suffered a lot for me.

As my disease couldn't be cured and pain in the stomach didn't reduce, I decided to give an end to my life.

Accordingly I went to the crematory ground with a kerosene bottle and a match box in the midnight. I was upset. I sat down on the crematory ground and sobbed like a motherless child. I cursed my life and thought it useless. I had no chance of living in the world. All memorable events of my life started flickering in my mind.

I knelt down and prayed to Lord Jagannath to pardon me as I am going to commit a great sin by putting an end to my life. I stroke the match box but it didn't fire. I failed in my attempt so many times. I cursed my life and immediately rushed to the temple of Lord Jagannath. I knelt down and prayed with folded hands at Singhadwar near Garuda Stambha. With much devotion I prayed earnestly for early remission and recovery of my pain.

In the mean time some one holding my hand pulled me into the temple. Touching my belly said, "Don't worry, be patient, you will be cured soon. "Telling this the man disappeared. I couldn't believe my eyes. Surprisingly I felt a little bit comfort in the stomach and returned home cherishing a new lease of life. To my good luck I got cured in a few days even without taking any medicines. I thought, perhaps due to unflinching devotion to Lord Jagannath and complete surrender of the self unto Him, I could obtain His merciful blessings and the healing touch to live life again. Now I am fully cured and devoted deeply to Him." This is the real pathetic story of his life. May you believe it or not, Ramesh said. No sooner had he completed the last words than the train reached the station.

We took good bye from Ramesh and got down from the train and proceeded to the temple of Lord Jagannath.

Friends, you imagine the supreme power of Lord Jagannath. His miracle, His merciful blessings and healing touch could save the life of Ramesh.

In our holy Bhagavad Gita Lord krishna has reiterated in 18th chapter verse 66 as follows:-

Sarva Dharman Parityajya Mamekam Saranam Braja

Aham Tvam Sarva Papebhyo Mokshayishyami, Maa Sucha.

Abandon all varieties of religion and surrender unto Me, I shall release you from all sinful reactions. Don't worry.

Friends while discharging our occupational duties, we never mind our divine consciousness by which all our activities go in vain. We should be confident that the Supreme power must protect us from all evils and difficulties in all circumstances. He is the source of all happiness and sorrows of our life. When Dusshasan was disrobing Droupadi at Kuru Sava, the latter was crying for help holding the saree in one hand and stretching the other hand for help towards God. But the moment Droupadi stretched her both hands leaving the saree for help, God immediately came to protect her and to release from the clutches of Dusshasan.
