Breaking Away

Ritu's return to the university was the need of the time. Her husband wanted her to continue her research studies in his own town. The local university was ready to accept her as a research scholar but they wanted a migration certificate from her previous university.

It almost consumed all her noon to obtain the migration certificate. She was about to leave when Dipti called- "Hey Ritu, what is it you didn't inform me that you are coming to university."

"I was not planning to meet anyone who had anything to do with Vishal." -replied Ritu, showing no happiness to meet an old friend.

"Aren't you married to a good man, loving man?" -asked Dipti.

"Yes I'm......I'm happily married to Sid." -replied Ritu with remorse.

"Then why don't you forget thing related to this university?" -said Dipti.

"Things related to this university? Or things related to you and Vishal?" -asked Ritu.

"Yes, things related to me and Vishal also......" -replied Dipti.

"I've forgotten everything but you both cheated me......Dipti you were my childhood friend, how could you do it to me?" -asked Ritu with her moist eyes.

"Love my dear, we fell in love......" -replied Dipti.

"How shameless have you become with that cheater......" -said Ritu with remorse.

"Come on Ritu, you are married now.... just forget me and Vishal and go ahead." -said Dipti.

"Wish I would have not met that cheater......did you both do things...?" -asked Ritu.

"You know it all is natural now a days........we are having good time." -replied Dipti with a wicked smile.

"How dirty are you Dipti, I'm happy I didn't let that cheater even touch my hand." -said Ritu with her tearful eyes.

"Let's have a cup of coffee......come on...I don't think you'll ever come to the university again." -said Dipti.

"Coffee with you? Forget it, I'm getting late, be happy in your hell." -said Ritu and left university premises.

One hour later

"Why all this Vishal? What do you want to do...?" -asked Dipti to the boy who was sitting on the corner table of the university canteen.

"Has she gone?" -asked Vishal instead of answering Dipti question.

"Yes, but I cannot bear the hatred I saw in her eyes for both of us." -said Dipti with her sad eyes.

"It was the last time......she'll never come back to the university. Now go to back to your studies." -said vishal.

"But you didn't reply my question......" -said Dipti.

"What should I tell you, she was mad in love with me.... I cannot tell you how hard it was for me to fall from her eyes. The drama of love with you was just for her to forget me, hate me. I'm very thankful of you to bear it with me. I'm still an unemployed man and I had nothing to offer her, it was best for her to marry a successful guy like Sid. I think you knew all these answers already, it is very hard for me to forget her but I can live with her memories, I've treasured all her memories somewhere in my soul. Now you go and concentrate on your studies, I don't want you come to me again in this matter." -said Vishal getting up.
