Angela was born in Ghana to poor parents who earned their living by working as labourers. She had five siblings and though poor, her childhood was peaceful and she played around with her siblings and friends all day long.

She had studied till class two. After she attained the age of sixteen, she was married to a local boy of her age.

The initial four years of her married life were good. Besides becoming a mother to two kids-one son and one daughter; their financial condition was also gradually improving.

But as all days are not equal, her life was up for a challenge. She had to face the sudden demise of her husband.

Though broken from inside, she decided to work herself in order to sustain her family.

But there were challenges. The first challenge was that women were forbidden to work!

So Angela changed her appearance, cut her long hairs and began dressing as a man. Angela became Angelo and worked odd jobs and managed to earn just enough with which she could provide two meals to her children.

Like this sixteen years have passed....

Today Angelo's aka Angela's daughter named Abina has been married and her son named Abeiku, has started earning himself.

Abeiku tells her mother to take rest now as he is earning, but Angelo says that she would keep doing work till she is capable of doing it.

In this way, Angelo fought social norms, changed her appearance to become a man in order to do odd jobs and sustain her family, and finally after a lot of struggle and hardships, had finally been able to make her children into grown-ups and self-defendant!

Today our generation is very much engrossed in gender equality and focus on doing what men can do; however in doing so they have forgotten their uniqueness. Womenhood is not only about beauty or brains. Being woman is much more than this! Women can do things that men can't do!!
