Tickle Your Creative Side!

Tickle Your Creative Side!

I remember what my father said to me one day,

You are not born to work my dear girl,

You go out to work and continue to work back at home,

That’s not the way to spend your lifetime at all!

Why don’t you start to find free time and paint?

Paint at least twenty-five canvasses and tell me,

I will put up a grand exhibition for you, he said,

You can write so well, find time to write my Dear!

Write more, paint more, and do tickle your creative side,

Believe me, that’s the way you need to spend your time,

And not just working at school and back home too,

Life will go on and finish with nothing really done!

Find someone to help you with all your work at home,

Finish your work at school and don’t carry it back home,

Everyone has twenty-four hours and you are not the only one,

And yet they do so much other than just their work alone!

When you can paint and write so well,

I want to see you do that more and more,

Don’t just while away your precious time,

Saying you are busy with work all the time!

I heard him well, but still carried on with my routine,

With just very little bit of writing and painting every now and then,

Mentally and physically tired I used to be, I don’t understand,

Always with things to do, every day meeting some deadline!

Now, I am just doing as you said, my dear daddy,

You were right, twenty-four hours are enough to find time,

To write and paint and tickle my creative side,

Within two years it has got me many laurels too!

I was able to exhibit seven of my paintings along with others,

In an Art Exhibition…. which made me think so much of you,

I was recognized for my didactic poetry which won me an award,

Some of my poems got me prizes too, which reminded me of you!

Why didn’t I take you seriously and neglect your precious words?

I should have left everything aside and did only as you said,

Now, I realize the importance of every single word you said,

You should have witnessed my art exhibition and my writing laurels as well!
