Ghost Town
Ghost Town
Was it a ghost town
I had walked into?
Not a soul to be seen around
in the fields strewn
with skeletal remains
of humans and animals
I knocked on doors
peered through peepholes
only darkness met the eye
A shiver ran up my spine
Where had I reached in
my search for nirvana?
This place was certainly
where tragedy had struck
without warning, suddenly
leaving an emptiness
unexplainable behind
Perhaps an epidemic
of huge proportions
had wiped the population
clean from the face of the earth.
Now in my loneliness
have learnt to survive.
