Through the haze of smoke
He sees their faces pain drenched
Men in throws of death
He has to move on
A heart filled with grief for lives lost
Men side by side fought
Some crying for help
Another waving to him
A smile on his face
Driven by love
He stops by to hug his friends
pained at leaving them
They feel comforted
Just a few moments before death
Sighs of relief break
Soldier to soldier
Secret whispers are exchanged
Tell them I died bravely
Speak kindly of me
To my parents, wife, children
I never feared death
