In Remembrance

Today I'll remain busy 

making video calls with 

three loved ones in Heaven. 

For once there are no flowers, 

no sweets to offer, 

in their remembrance. 

Instead have lit three candles

to celebrate Ma and Didi's Birthdays

and for Dadu whom I never met

walked out of life this day.

To him, I'll say "have heard 

so much about you, 

can't wait to meet you in person". 

Surely he"ll wave back 

and respond "Go on old girl

keep up your spirits"

To Ma who would have been 

ninety eight, I'll wish her a

"Happy Birthday". 

I anticipate She'll respond

with that beatific smile, free

of pain lines, looking ethereal.

To Mejdi I'll have my say 

"I'm still angry with you for

leaving without giving any notice" 

She'll have that mischievous look

"wait till you reach here, 

I'll pull out all your grey hair 

and then we'll be even!"

For once I'm happy for them

They are in a safe place.

away from this planet.

Free to roam, smell the flowers

in God's beautiful garden.
