Emotions Run Amok
Emotions Run Amok
I walked into the narrow alleys
bordered each side with shanties
Overpowering stench of faeces
Assailed my nostrils, offended senses
Inexplicable pain hit my chest
Seeing emaciated kids with no vests
Curiosity piqued, looked inside
What met my eyes took me by surprise
No bricks, no cement, just sheets of tin
Made up the walls, covered with tarpaulin
Wondered how they survived each season
Heat, rain, winters without woollens
Felt anger, well up from within
At the inhuman conditions they live in
Reported findings to a relief organisation
They responded, succeeded in my mission
Glad had walked those alleys narrow
How else would I have felt their sorrow
