Save The Mangroves

Nature, oh so beautiful!

Free for us to experience and enjoy.

I feel happy like a lark in the sky.

 

Out of my window,

I look and smile at the golden pink sunrise,

the chirping birds flying merrily rise.

 

The green and bright mangroves,

standing like sentinels.

Rain or sunshine, they defend our land like soldiers .

 

The stillness of the water in the lake, most calming.

The breeze suddenly creating ripples in the water ,

that resembles a cheery “Hello”.

 

But one day I see ….to my horror

A thick column of smoke,

billowing through the mangroves.

 

Water from the lake being emptied,

To create more land for construction !

Selfish greedy people at the core of such destruction.

 

Rise my friends,

let us not be meek

Let us demand answers to the questions we seek.

 

This may be our last chance,

Before the mangroves disappear,

For our future generations, we have much to fear!
