THE WRONG NUMBER

"It all started with a call from wrong number".

Aman was describing the history, to police while registering F.I.R.

He further said, 

"I was in a hurry to catch a flight to Bangalore. I was the last passenger remaining to board the flight. They had announced, my name couple of times and just I was about to enter the plane, my phone kept on ringing continuously. 

Generally, I avoid calls from unknown numbers, unless verified on some app. But since, I was in hurry and getting calls repeatedly, I picked it up. The person on otherhand introduced herself as executive from Cab company. She wanted to confirm the booking and asked me to share OTP. 

Since, I was late and airhostess was emphasizing to keep phone on flight mode, I hurriedly shared OTP and kept phone on flight mode.

When I got relaxed, the fear of something wrong occupied my mind. Upon landing, I immediately, put back phone to normal mode and received several messages of unsuccessful login attempt to my bank account and that account is freezed for security reasons."

It was clearly a cyber fraud, but Police was surprised why the login attempt was not successful. The police then came swiftly into action and investigated the matter, although it was a case cyber crime without any loss to the victim.

After a very deep investigation, the police was successful in exposing the gang behind this. The interrogation revealed that, they were unsuccessful in cracking account as the database they used had wrong number against the account detail.

Thus, a call from a wrong number on a wrong number led to a huge success in nabbing the cyber fraud gang.
