A Letter In The Pocket

A Letter In The Pocket

3:00 AM in the morning, I rushed hurriedly towards the railway station with a confident face. I had to catch a train departing at 4:00, for a city, 3 hours away from mine.

As, I came closer to the railway station, my confidence started diminishing and nervousness started taking over me.

Amidst the cool weather, the perspiration droplets started making polka dot design on forehead.

And why not? It was the first job interview after college and that too a short noticed. Till day, I was a pampered child, never travelled alone, that too in a public transport.

The struggling crowd, on the platform to board the train, made me more nervous. The polka dot design had started to dye collar of my shirt.

Somehow, I managed to board the general class, unreserved compartment of the train. The heartbeats were, at the top gear and so was the anxiety.

I started, imprecating myself. All my heroic words were now laughing at me. Soon Mr. Rancho ( our very own Mr. Idiot) came to rescue. No! not in person. In form of dialogue.

I started reciting 'ALL IZZ WELL'... and couple of times tapped on my heart in the signature style.

I felt something in my top pocket. I found a piece of paper folded. Amused I unfolded it and found a letter written by my father.

 It read as

'Dear Son,

If you have found this letter after in your return journey, then, Congratulations! You have proved me wrong..

And if you're yet to start or just started and your clothes are already feeling monsoon effect then don't worry.. On back side I have written names and contact details of two of my friends, one is T.C. in your train and other stays in city where you are travelling.

So if you feel helpless, in worst condition get in touch with them..

Always there behind you,

Your Dad!'

This brought a smile on my face. Suddenly, the game had changed and confidence took over the nervousness. I reached my destination calmly and even my interview went smoothly without calling anyone.

I tried, calling Dad's friend just as a good gesture only to find there was no such person. They were my Dad's mind creation, just to boost up my morale!
