Night Blindness

Rajesh was working in the conglomerate. Every weekend, he used to go to different NGO’s to donate. One day, in an NGO, his eyes fell on Sangeeta. He was mesmerized by her beauty. Both of them became familiar after few visits.

One day while having a cup of coffee he asked “Do you like your job here?”

She replied “Yes, very much, in fact I love this job. I feel immensely satisfied when I do something for the needy or when I help others”

She asked, “Why do you come here?”

He replied “I come here because I get a sense of inner satisfaction when I do something for others or needy”

As they started to know each other, they fell in love with each other. After few days, while having a cup of coffee, Rajesh proposed her saying “I love you very much and would like to marry you”

Sangeeta said “I like you very much but I can’t marry you”

Rajesh said surprisingly “But, why?”

Sangeeta said “I have a huge defect"

Rajesh Said “Don’t joke. I love you very much. What defect do you have if you really have one although I don’t think you have any?”

Sangeeta said “I have night blindness issue. And I don’t want to bring darkness in your life by marrying you. Please marry somebody else. I will always remain your best friend.”

Sangeeta said and got up. Rajesh got up, caught hold of her hand and requested her to sit down. Once, Sangeeta took her seat, Rajesh said “I love you from the bottom of my heart and will marry none other than you. I will be your eyes”

He pleaded many times. Ultimately, she agreed and said, “I love you too”

After few years, Rajesh was married to Sangeeta. Next day after marriage Rajesh told Sangeeta that I will make sure that I am around you after sunset.

Sangeeta said, “I can manage even if you are not around. All these years I have managed."

Rajesh really liked her confidence but said, “I want to make sure that you don’t face any issue and as such I would like to be with you after Sunset.”

After few days, Rajesh invited his friend to his party. All of them thoroughly enjoyed the party.

Next day, Sangeeta was waiting for Rajesh. It was Rajesh’s birthday. Suddenly, he heard someone knocking at the door. Expecting that her husband is knocking the door, she opened the door. Rajesh's friend entered and closed the door. Pretending to be Rajesh, he puts his hand on her Sari. Sangeeta understood that someone is trying to molest her, and as such she decided to raise the alarm. She immediately pressed the emergency switch which was there in the room. Luckily, Rajesh was downstairs; he rushed onto the room, caught hold of his friend and thrashed him. By this time, guards also came. They handed him over to the police.

Rajesh then rushed to see if Sangeeta is fine.

Sangeeta said “Are you fine, sweetheart?”

She immediately replied “Baby, don’t worry about me. I am absolutely fine”

Rajesh said “But, how did you realize that he was not me?”

Sangeeta said “I can recognize by your footsteps”

Sangeeta said “Let’s forget what happened today, and let’s celebrate your birthday”

Rajesh said “I am totally disturbed because of the incident which happened today and as such it is not possible for me to celebrate my birthday today. Sorry, I was late. I am at fault. Because I didn't return on time, you had to go through ....."

Sangeeta interrupted "You are not at fault baby"

Sangeeta tried to convince Rajesh but Rajesh did not agree and said “I think I am guilty; and hence please ……”

Sangeeta interrupted and said “It is not your fault, baby. I understand you couldn't come on time today because of some urgent official work"

Although Sangeeta tried to convince him but no matter how hard she tried, he did not agree and couldn't sleep that day.

Next day, as he was browsing the internet, he read an article about night blindness and got to know that it can be cured. They went to the ophthalmologist and after the surgery, she was cured.

With each passing day, their love for each other deepened.

On their 50th Anniversary, Sanjeev woke his wife with a kiss and coffee in hand and said “Baby, Love you, can’t imagine life without you”

Sangeeta said “Baby, I love you very much, let’s recreate history today”

Rajesh said astonishingly “What do you exactly mean by recreating history”

Sangeeta said “Let’s marry each other again today”

Rajesh said “Yes, let’s do that”

Rajesh and Sangeeta went to the temple and they remarried.

Please Note :- Generally if we know that the person I am going to marry, is having a certain kind of problem, we don't marry that person. But, if we are in love, we tend to ignore this. 

Love is unconditional. Also, we should look for qualities that are there in a person instead of beauty or defect that the person may have. Tried to write a story thinking this.
