Dementia

A granny was diagnosed with dementia. Her name was Sulakshini Devi. Right now she was living with her grandson who was working in a Conglomerate as a Senior Manager. Her birthplace was Bhopal. She lost her son in an accident, and that incident left a lasting impression on her mind. It was just after that incident, that she became the patient of dementia. In spite of his busy schedule, he took care of his grandmother and spent as much time as he could with her. The grandson took care of her grandmother necessities : like medics, her blankets, etc.

Sometimes she used to call grandson by his son's name, sometimes by grandson's name. She used to forget what his grandson used to say, hence the grandson used to call her at a gap of one hour from the office. 

Although she was diagnosed with dementia, she could remember her village and wanted to go to her village and walk there barefooted. The grandson has shown her around the village in his laptop with the help of videos and pics. But, the grandmother said that she had a longing desire to go there. Also, she further added that to see something from the eyes cannot be compared with pictures, and hence she said " Please take me there "

The grandmother was thinking what would be the feeling when she would visit her village and would walk there barefooted, suddenly a thought came to her mind " Is this even possible, I can barely walk. I need the help of wheelchair ". Nevertheless, the urge or desire to go to her village did not reduce. She still had the intense desire within her.

After few days, it was past midnight on a new moon day : the sky was pitch black. So many light were lit out there that she could barely see the stars. Generally his grandson used to return by 8PM. Hence, the granny did not have an idea about the time and hence, started to walk with the help of wheelchair. As she was walking, she could not hear any sound. The only sound that she could hear was the sound of the wheelchair which made the crackle and the rattling sound. The road appeared deserted. 

Suddenly, she saw a couple approaching toward her. Her solitude was broken by the couple. She had never seen them before. The girl looked pretty in her floral pink dress. Her hair was brown in a ponytail. The boy looked broad and muscular as if he used to go to gym. He was wearing white t-shirt, black jeans and a pair of woodland shoes. When they were walking towards the granny, they saw her. They glanced at her and started to move in another direction rapidly.

Out of curiosity, the granny followed her. As she was following him, suddenly she lost sight of them. At that very moment, she saw her grandson approaching towards her.  The grandson came to her and then she revealed what bothered her :  i.e the couple. The grandson laughed it off.

As she moved a little more, she saw a well and then she asked her grandson to bring water for her. The grandson rushed to the well and found a corpse lying there. He was frightened and then he rushed to her grandmother and told her what he saw.

Next day, the police investigated the scene and found the dead body. The police investigated and found that the dead body belonged to a girl whose missing case was already registered. The police then  investigated the case further and found that the husband killed her because of an extra marital affair.

The granny then told her grandson that she is having nightmare of that incident ( i.e a dead person lying in the well ) on daily basis and she would like to visit her village as soon as possible. The grandson tried to pacify her but she was not pacified no matter how hard he tried. Later, the doctor told him to take her to her village as she would live for another year or two. The grandson started weeping and later controlled himself. Came in front of her grandmother and then told her that he will take her to the village after few days. The grandmother became very happy.

The grandson apprised his senior about her and the senior transferred him to Bhopal. 

From Bhopal his village was 20 kms from there. He took a flight to bhopal and then reached his village. 

He took care of his granny and  made sure that she stays happy.

Those 3 years, she enjoyed thoroughly. After 3 years, Granny passed away. The grandson was in comma after this incident for a year. Later, when he recovered, he made a statue in his village in granny's remembrance.
