Confessions of a Confused Mind

I was working in Delhi NCR & my parents were in Gorakhpur (UP), which was my hometown. My parents had recently shifted from a rented apartment to their own house. During all festive holidays I used to visit my hometown but this time my own house location was new to me.

After reaching my new home, I was very excited. My home was located in the cleanest colony of the city.

One day my father told me to bring some household goods from the nearby shop. It was 20 minutes away from home. I went to the shop, purchased the necessary items & to my surprise, I forgot the way back home. 

Now, this was not a new case in my life. I am the champion of "Short Term Memory Loss". I often forget to purchase tickets while traveling & then I proudly pay a huge penalty. On the second day of my marriage, I forgot that I am a married man now & while going to my office, I locked my own wife in my house. On the way when she called me, then I remembered that I am a married man now & I have locked my own wife.

It was my semester examination in B.Tech's 1st year. I prepared thoroughly for that day's "Engineering Mathematics" examination. When I reached the examination hall, I found that it was a "Communication Skills" examination. I was such a brilliant student that I even forgot the final examination date sheet.

Anyway, let us continue with the story. Now I have forgotten the way to my own home, definitely, I took help. Somebody in my colony was gardening flowers. I told him the name of my father & asked for the address. The nice gentleman was known to my father & he took me to my home. Reaching the entrance gate, he asked, "By the way, who do you want to meet her?". I said, " I don't want to meet anyone. This is my own home & the person whom I was asking about is my father. Thank you very much for your kind help?"

For 15 minutes that person was standing still, looking carefully at me. Maybe he was thinking that I am from a different planet.

Immediately after my marriage, I went on a honeymoon with my wife. I told my wife, " Don't worry dear. I have booked the hotel in advance.". My wife was feeling proud that how concerned his husband is. But very soon all her expectations were going to die, I was sure of that.

We went to the reception of the hotel & said," Room No. 404, Engineer Piyush Pandey. Give me the keys". The gentleman at the reception checked all his registers but did not find any entry in my name. My wife was very angry. She started saying to the hotel staff, " I am sorry to say that you are so careless. We got the room booked in advance & you say that our name is not there." 

After a few seconds of argument, I took my wife aside & said to her," Dear wife. I want to tell you something. Actually, the room number is correct, but the hotel is different."

My wife was looking angrily at me. Maybe she was thinking, "How will I spend my entire life with this man?".

But sometimes I really feel proud of myself. I have given a genuine reason to the people, never to forget me. Reputation with a difference...
