The Hunter
The Hunter
THE HUNTER
The hunter positioned
his black rifle
Rang a piercing shot
Right through the neck
of the isles
Called Blizzard score
By the bay of
Bladderwick
So tearlessly, merciless and treadless though
A soaring red footed falcon
‘T caused to be killed
Freezing his breath
filled song
Now as cold as an ice
stone
Fell straight from the
sky to the gravel beach
Below the strange neck
of isles
Where the hunter
sauntered on his wild horse carriage
Galloping still
He plunged now his
golden spear
Into the blustery seas
And killed at once the
harmless blue whale
Swimming through and
fro
Singing harmoniously
In and out through the
sea’s lap of luxury
What harm had he done
The innocent beast
All condoned to the
fault of the sinner hunter man
Who now aimed with his
golden bow
Another sharp v
piercing arrow
Right off the elastic
cords the funny shaped bow
Obliquely though
It tilted and he aimed
recklessly
Thinking he conquered
all living beings
Of the neck of the
isles of living man
His first aim missed
Yet still arched his
bow
And his hunting topee
with a feather he tilted
To ease his aim with
precision
Flew the arrow
straight
Cutting right through
the heart of a ringed seal
It flapped his side flipper
wings as if danced
A death groove round
and round and fell
Right at the foot of
the laced boots so tall
The feelingless hunter
He never faltered, he
never missed
Yet skipped a beat of
the mammal beast
And died scourged and
ravaged by
The bay of
Bladderwick, each of Blizzard’s score shores
And put now his feet
above
Right atop the
lifeless mammal
As if condoning his
ruthless sin
By the hide of his char
black, oily skin
Then the hunter
collected his red footed falcon
Blue whale and ringed
seal one by one
And a bag of mussels,
oysters and crabs
By the shore side he’d
gathered in silver net
And tying them to his
carriage
Set off from the
gravel beach
Instead of the sand
smarting his eye
He smarted and
outwitted
The preys of paradise
Soon galloped away
home
Till the light breath
of snorts
And hooves of his
horses gallivanting
Sounded faint on his
return
Lollop Trollop Trollop
Back from the neck of
isles
Of the forsaken
Bladderwick bay
Side by side the
Blizzard score of shores
The next day the
hunter soon set out early dawn
Again the same neck of
isles
Near Bladderwick bay
Of the blizzard score
shores
One by one took out
his hunting gear
His black revolver,
his bow and arrow
The spear and harpoon
along
Singing and humming
carefree
Astride his golden
horse carriage
Once he reached the
neck of isles shoreline
It howled like mad
that foreboding day
As if a mad ghost was
let loose from a bucket of
Salty and pearly tear
drops
It opened its mouth
wide and black
Hollow and taunt
And let out a shrill
sound of the blustery winds along
“Oooooooooooooahhhhhhhhehhhhhhuoooooheeeeeflooooofleeee”
He used his bow and
obliquely again
Arched from it the v
shaped arrow
Sharp as cutlass it
was pricked
And soon flew it from
the bow string
As supple as elastic
It darted along
The cool, silent
breeze that hushed its sad song
“Whooooooweeeeahhhhehhhoheeeflooooofleee”
Flying out the bow the
object it hit
Was a harmless beast
of the waters
Half a fish and I
guess half a human being
It was a mermaid
called Tangleweed Genial Cord
She eerily panted her
last breath
And because of the fog
on the beach
He could not see her
carcass
Arrive by the very
first sway of the ocean currents
Right to the shore
side sandy wharf
Where she lay without
heaving a single breath
Dead I suppose and
tangled in a web
Of weeds, moss and
lichen
As the fog cleared he
thought he missed his aim
And let loose another
arrow fly through the strings of the supple bow
It plunged now into a
wandering black browed albatross sea bird
Flying low to finish
his catch for the day
And with a fish in his
mouth
A haunting surprise
left it like a vacant supper foam frothing
At its poor beak still
his head held high
High above the clouds
Where he circled and
fell down
The wandering black
browed albatross bird
Had sworn he was
hunter once
By his natures agile
request
But now himself a prey
of the ruthless beast hunter
He even used his
harpoon at dusk
Beneath the silvery
moonlight
To kill a lithe and
supple white tailed dear
Leaping like a
gleaming golden goddess
Bounding through the
valleys that hid behind
Thither side tother
Bladderwick bay
Of the blustery,
blizzard score shores
This time the neck of
isles
Surrounding
Bladderwick Bay
It howled more madly
than before the foreboding day
As if a mad ghost was
let loose from a bucket of
Salty and pearly tear
drops in vain
It opened its mouth
wide and black
Hollow and taunt
And let out a shrill
sound of the blustery winds along
“Oooooooooooooahhhhhhhhehhhhhhuoooooheeeeeflooooofleeee”
For Alas! The King of
the waves learned
Sad news from the
mouth of the haunting spectre
As it howled, gritted
and grinned
Like a ferocious beast
So sombre and grim
Woe Begone! His
daughter the mermaid
Tangle Weeds Genial
Cords lay dead
The lord Mer-King
Plectonius sounded sonorous
Like a plectrum reed
that played broken chords
Of a sea bass guitar
Arose from the
terrifying depths of the blustery sea
Down below
The shoal of fishes
passing through the
Curve of his gleaming
eyeballs
Even the sun glowered madly
at the sunken eyes
Of the guilty hunter
Looking down as if a
culprit for a crime he had not known
He had committed
The cockle shells, the
conch and the faithful
Sword nosed knight
fishes
All head held high and
whispering telephones as if wired
Telepathically sent
messages to the great Queen of wishes
After being informed
by them
The tragic event let
loose the aftermath
Of the hungry hunters
cold blooded games
The queen of wishes
gave a shriek as loud
As the deep hollow
windy moan of an Abigail
Her name Maffomellow
Queen of Billows
That crashed right
into her King of waves
Plectonius headlong,
heart to heart and soul to soul
And the Mer-King like
an empty treasure chest
Heaved a heavy sigh of
despair
Of his precious breath
from his treasured lungs
His mermaid daughter
Tangle weeds Genial Cords
Of weeds, moss and
lichen
Was dead as her
carcass
Lay right next to the
next of his kith and kin waves
Usurping the isles of
the neck
Where she dwelt
He heaved sorrowfully
with a pang of grief
A heavy heart full of
sorrow and pain
Crying loudly and
sadly lamenting
“Our little mermaid
left for dead
By the ugly soul of a
ruthless hunter
So stone hearted and
cold
So horrid and bold”
The Queen Maffomellow
of Billows
Chanted a spell
Righteously to bring
back the dead alive….
On that fated day
Whilst death to that
incorrigible hunter
Of Bladderwick bay
By the Blizzard,
bluzzard score shores
“Flish, Flosh, Flish
By the swish of our
tails
We pledge the
carcasses back to life
He killed and murdered
Bringing them all
alive again
Even our precious
mer-daughter
Whilst he sheer death
we wish
Into dreges of sand
Shall he become
Into mounds and sand
dunes
Cursed to be a
lifeless matter
Flown all around
Flishy Floshy Flishy
By the swish of our
tails
So do we wish, wish
wish”
Then the ruthless
hunter
Disappeared into the
atmosphere
Filled with shame for
all the atrocities
He committed on living
mammals and beasts
All golden bow and arrows,
all black rifles and revolver
Harpoons and spears
Turned frozen like statuettes
and soon turned to dreges of sand
Even the horse and
golden carriage
Were returned to
gravel and dust
When once it galloped
atop with a feathery winged bust
A mane as high as a
feathery wig
And hooves so light as
fairy trotters
Tarrying with delicate
struts and strides
And a tail as
delightful as long as a fairy rope
No sooner did he along
with his hunting gear
And horse carriage
turn into dreges of sand
Than believeth or not
The carcass he
consumed before it were dead
And those left by the
Bladderwick bay
All were restored life
back
The mermaid Tangle
weeds Genial Cord, ringed seal, blue whale
Wandering black browed
albatross, white tailed deer and red footed falcon
Along with the
mussels, oysters and crabs of his silvery fishing net
All returned to their
positions
Where they had frozen
now turned mobile
The mermaid Tangle
weeds Genial Cord swimming
And diving, the ringed
seal with his oil char black skin
Rolling and reeling,
the red footed falcon singing
Blue whale
astoundingly blowing water like a fountain jet
From its snout
And singing
harmoniously again
The wandering black
browed albatross with a fish in his beak
Whilst the white
tailed deer galloped long and slender
Her limbs back like a
golden gleaming goddess
All those he
slaughtered and left for dead
Turned alive once more
Their bodies beat with
pulsating agony
Of life again
As if the dreges of
his sandy beds
Transformed the dead
And breathed life into
its deadened knots
And blood corpuscles
Whilst the dregs of
sand flew here and there
And joined the neck of
isles
Where the Moaning
Queen Maffomellow of Breeze
And the sorrowful king
Plectonius of waves
Turned happy again
With their plectrum
reed chords playing against
The sea bass guitars
And the breeze humming
and cursing
Through the veined
branches of the wharf Bladderwick Bay
The breathless,
moaning breeze
And the scorching sun
Soon chided along the
blustery, blizzard score shores
“Oooooooooooooahhhhhhhhehhhhhhuoooooheeeeeflooooofleeee”
As for the dreges of
sand that remained
Of the hunter near the
shore
Collected in heaps and
dunes
That sometimes walked
in misery and sometimes
Galloped like golden
dust horse
The glowering sun was
happy and no more glowered
Like before
No more did he scowl
or flare his temper
At the dusty sand man
hunter
Now sometimes by
nature
A dead carcass of a
mammal or beast
Came ashore
And for the sand man
hunter grieved
The dreges of sand
mounds and dunes
Turned back the bold
and cold
Hunter to a human being
reformed and refined!
Remorseful for being
guilty of a murderous act
All forgiven by the
Queen of wishes
Maffomellow of Breeze
And the humble King
Plectonius of waves
And so do we learn a
beautiful lesson
From the blustery,
blizzard score shores
Of the Bladderwick
bay!
