Silver earrings dangling, and fingers in constant motion,

Engaged in an animated conversation,

That’s how I’d seen you for the first time,

Strands of hair falling on your face and you remained oblivious,

Your long and lean fingers, jabbed at him playfully,

I remember being envious, coz it suggested intimacy,

Your kohled eyes, seemed entrancing, as your lips curved into a smile,

Out of all the people in the metro, my eyes were transfixed onto you,

Your intricately embroidered black dupatta, covered my face as a gust of air fluttered,

The fragrance of your perfume wafted through the compartment, and a smile formed at the corner of my lips, that reached till my eyes,

Your laughter filled up the otherwise eerily silent compartment, the twinkle of your eyes was unmissable,

Your voice was intoxicating, lethal yet it made my heart alive,

With a joy so overwhelming that I forgot to breathe,

You were the girl I had dreams about but knew you were far, and unattainable,

And just like that you slipped into my life, your smile never leaving me,

And those silver earrings, a souvenir,

As one of them hung elegantly on my pen stand,

Reminding me of you, and a smile that I never saw again......
