Naturalistic Serendipity

Naturalistic Serendipity

The rain keeps pounding down on the shed,

A-tip, a-top, tip and top,

After all, it is a horrible day today.

Mournful tears descending God, when will they stop ?

Past the cornrow field, in that little village,

Where the wild, untamed grass and sprigs of all kind,

Meet the new-aged home-bred crops that the farmer likes,

such as little tomato shoots, potato roots or wheat kernels lined.

Here lies the Majestic Banyan Tree, in all its highness,

For it solitarity stands there, from over 3000 years,

All in that town have been worshiping it for its sacredness, piety;

Everyone knows there's great importance this tree bears !

All of its legacy in the Ancient Scripts speaks of:

The myriads of travelers it saved from the sun's loving rays,

Children who played around their 'Banyan Friend' for hours, stressless;

The many love-lorn lads and ladies who met here, only to stay !

Oh, So many years, so many relations, so many memories !

When over the centuries, war or disaster couldn't break the tree down,

Here come some wood-cutters, resolved to chop it down before dusk.

They came to take it all away: its life, its legacy, even the canopy crown !

The rain still pounds down on the shed,

A-tip, a-top, tip and top,

After all, it is a horrible day today.

Mournful tears descending God, when will they stop ?

The villagers didn't seem to be stopping it. Well, why would they ?

The company wanted the wood, so the villagers got the cash,

Now they've shut their mouth, shut their eyes to any sense,

And welcomed the cutters to take Majestic Banyan to their stash !

So was the tale of today being a horrible day, true indeed.

Oh, someone save, The village's pride was dying !

Albeit not everyone sold off their ethics in greed, and there were still left:

Some morals, values of respect that money wasn't buying !

Just when the sharp axe was cleansed and ready to bore into the bark,

Here shouted a voice,"Get through us before you touch 'Banyan Friend!"

Then came a horde of little children, ready to tightly embrace the tree,

Showing that neither their determination, nor their tiny arms would ever bend !

While all were dumbstruck, the wood-cutters pondered in some deep thoughts,

They tossed their axes away, as they realized their biggest mistake,

"How could we let our greed, in such a way, succeed,

That it felt the need, to do this misdeed?"

And, hence, walked away saying," This is not a life we are destined to take !"

The rain is still pounding down on the shed,

A-tip, a-top, tip and top,

Maybe not such a horrible day today.

Ecstatic blessings descending God, guess they will never stop !
