I'M Fine

I'M Fine

2 mins
13.9K

Sitting in a room with lights off
Thinking of the problems
He's tough enough
But only from the outside
Everybody, somewhere
Are soft, inside
How will he open up
To the world who thinks he's tough
they won't understand his bluff
So he keeps his head down

AND
I'M FINE
Says the little boy with big eyes
sharing what he has with true lies
His sister, causing the sacrifice
I'M FINE
says the boy when he gets home
After a bully cracks his bone
Now he feels all alone
Toughness, where are you gone?

His head is still down
No need no time to frown
When his hands come up
And covers his eyes
Consoling himself
He takes deep sighs

AND
I'M FINE
Says the teen boy who's standing there
Watching his girl walk away with despair
In the love triangle, he took the dare
I'M FINE
Says the man who is in love
With alcohol and drugs
Feels restless if less than a dose
This was not what he chose

Now slowly those hands go away
The tears prepare to make their way
His body shivers
He wants them to stay

BUT
I'M FINE
says the man who lost everything
What will he say to his wife and children
Luck played him and he's left with nothing
I'M FINE
says the old man coughing and panting
Bids goodbye to his son who's still running
Hopes old age homes are promising

And now the time has come
When tears start to run
Red and wet are the cheeks
Like a child he weeps
Throat gets heavy
Peace is what he seeks
Rubs off all the drops
While walking out, he stops
And turns on the lights
In a man's life
with himself he fights

SO
I'M FINE
says the little boy hugging his sister
The bullied soul confessing to his mother
The friend who was actually a friend indeed
The victim who gave up his false need
The man who's still living for his family
The old man accepting his fate severely
They're all men
The unsung souls of modernity
The world should know what they are
What they've done
But they don't need this recognition
Even if deep inside they're dying
A head will come up and speak
Don't worry
I'M FINE.
