I Once Met A Man ...
I Once Met A Man ...

I looked for a man in September,
I looked for him all the way to December,
This is my story I tell,
With no whistle or bell,
To the best of my ability to remember.
I once met a man at a party,
Thought now I could get cute and flirty,
I begged him to stay,
He told me he was gay,
And there went my plans to be naughty.
I once met a man at my church,
With him, I hoped I would end my search,
He told me a tale too many
And left me with nary a penny,
And ran away leaving me in the lurch.
I once met a man at a mall,
Like a hero, he was dark, handsome and tall,
I twisted my ankle,
And fell in a tangle,
He laughed at me, would you believe his gall.
I once met a man at the theatre,
He was dashing and bold to the letter,
A popcorn we shared,
Thought he really cared,
Until he walked off with another.
I once met a man at my college,
Seeing him alone I pressed advantage,
He said he was Adam,
Politely called me Madam,
And left me to cry at my dotage.
I see now there is no man to find,
I look back these months in rewind,
Searched for in vain,
With no gain but pain,
It's best I leave all these memories behind.
