Death I Know
Death I Know
Death is one strange thing I know
Having no end to what it can possibly take
It’s like a belly that is never full
And eventually devours all
It creeps up in your dreams, your days and nights alike
And we are all at its mercy the same
Death is a funny thing I know
Funny, for it is frowned upon to mock it
Funny, for mortal souls pretend to be reborn with not a hint of pain that we carry beyond death
Funny, for that sorrow leads me to a path where I lose my faith in the living yet find comfort in a warm hug
I wonder what happens when those eyes shut for the last time
Funny for me, sorrow for you
Death is a jovial thing I know
Happy, for it gives me purpose in living
Happy, for it tells me that all the happiness and pain will one day come to an end and that I must treasure them all alike
Happy, for it helps me to remember those who went before me and cherish the arrival of those who will remain long past my departure
It is but a mere bridge that we cross, to a new start and to a new end, for there is death afterlife and life after death
Happy, for I will never really know it.
