If God Is

If God Is

If God is the benevolent creator that he is said to be

Then why must poor souls sleep with an empty stomach?

Their hands were forced to beg and dignity lost

Their clothes were torn and shoes muddy

Their eyes mirroring the horrors of his creation

If he reprimands you for your past mistakes, then is this not yet another prison?

If God is the answer to each of our questions

Then why must the curious be given hemlock?

Heretics lynched and people massacred in his name

Why must cruelty be a feature and kindness dealt with oppression?

Why must he be the judge for his creation itself is flawed?

If he is, then why must he remain dead and how did we kill him?

If God is the father who looks after us all

Then why must there be the haves and the have nots?

Why must he not help those who need him?

Why must he let religion plague his creation and not embrace it?

Why must God-given freedom be a luxury?

If he is behind all that is good, then who owns the evil?
