Still Youthful

A lady stood before the mirror,

Gazing at her face so clear,

And with a sigh, she whispered low,

"I wish to always stay aglow."

Her hair was still as golden light,

Her eyes still sparkled bright,

But lines of age had touched her brow,

And creases showed upon her now.

She longed to keep her youthful grace,

To have a glowing, radiant face,

To keep her skin forever fair,

And never have a strand of hair turn gray.

She wished to walk with agile steps,

And dance until the morning crept,

To hold a beauty that would last,

Until the very end of her past.

But time, alas, would not comply,

And age would come, she couldn't deny,

And though she wished to stay young,

She knew that this could not be done.

Yet in her heart, she held a flame,

A spark of youth that never waned,

And with a smile, she vowed to live,

A life that youth and beauty give.

For though her body aged and changed,

Her spirit remained young and free,

And in her soul, she kept the truth,

That age is just a number to be.

And so she lived her life with glee,

And shared her wisdom so graciously,

A true embodiment of grace,

And beauty that time could not erase.
